Alonso just turned 31 on Pearl Harbor Day, so at least we're not locking up him up until his age 90 season.

Exciting!
Hopefully he can continue to produce more like last year and 2022 rather than the two years sandwiched in between.

How far along were the talks with Nats for Gore? Or is Joe Ryan still available?
This is insane. I sincerely don't remember what this feels like. Maybe when we signed Raffy in 1994?

I think this will help with their efforts to acquire other FAs.

I think both Mayo and Mounty go. Does Mayo and a prospect get us Edwin Cabrera.
I think the Alonso deal will have a domino affect on the Oriole roster.
Not necessarily. Mayo could still end up at 1B with Alonso DHing. Or they could keep him as a platoon guy if they think there's more value there than anything he could fetch in a trade.

I am middle school math teacher (algebra & pre-alg...not that it matters), but I just went to talk to a fellow staff member who is an Orioles' fan...I could barely get the words out or my head together. I then told my incoming class about it...one of my students is a METS fan...he screamed out....."NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" like Darth Vader when he found out he killed Padme! LOL!
This is awesome!!!!! This helps the entire lineup...now, trade Mounty & keep Mayo around...as much as I hate to say goodbye to Mounty...now go get a monster pitcher!

Pete shows up big time in the post season, so that's another plus.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

I think Mayo gets them close to a guy like Cabrera or Gore.
I will hate seeing Mayo go, but it feels like this is the tip of the iceberg.
I think Elias is about to do what I have been bitching at him to do for a couple of years. Make one deal that leads to 2 or 3 more.

Cant believe pmhis offseason didnt have a different feel. And we arent done.
It's a "Fool me once shame on you, fool me again, shame on me" feeling year to year with this club....could you imagine being a Pirates fan???
That owner isn't even fooling anyone...he's just cashing checks and kicking fans' babies in the nuts year after year!

I love this move. It may wind up being a year too long but it sends a message that this is no longer the Angelos Orioles.
Great job by Elias and Rubenstein.
Get 2 starters and another leverage guy for the pen and let's go.
I told my sons I was waiting to spend on season tickets. I will do it now.
Right. Frankly I think it's not a very good move, but the they needed to make a move to change the narrative. The symbolism is more important than the actual baseball for this one IMO.
Curious to see what dominoes fall from here. Can't really have Alonso, Mayo and Mountcastle all on the same roster.

I had to pinch myself when I saw the story. Finally a free agent signed that's not bottom of the barrel.

To me, this is finally the start of the Orioles pushing all their chips to the middle of the table and going for it. There is noreason to do this deal unless you got 2 or 3 more things coming. Buckle up.

I won't repeat my other comments here, but still the same for me.
I like Alonso. I get why people are excited, but I think the focus is on the wrong things.
You have to trade Mayo and Mountcastle.
