I'd rather have Nimmo than Semien. Don't really get this trade for the Mets unless the Rangers are sending a bunch of cash which doesnt' seem to be the case.
Wonder if Eovaldi could be a trade target for the O's if the Rangers are looking to save money. Short-term deal is something you know they'd prefer.

De Grom
Yeah, I'm in on that as well. Worry about his injuries, obviously, but cant' beat the production and only two years left.

O'Neill wasn't a bad bet, risks were understood. Hasn't worked out but that doesn't make it stupid, IMO. Look at what it just cost us to get his production without the injury risks.DeGrom is going on 38, pitched, by far, his most innings since 2019, was no ace in the 2nd half last year, and makes 2/75. Could it work out? Sure. However, that seems like the worst sucker bet since Tyler O’Neill, only worse.

A 3 year commitment to a player with O’Neill’s history was a bad bet. The signing was/is debatable and you can argue it was worth the risk but it was a bad bet to hope for a one and done. DeGrom is a more expensive and worse bet although there is certainly a slim chance of great upside.O'Neill wasn't a bad bet, risks were understood. DeGrom obviously carries big risk and you'd have to plan for that. Honestly still having Rodriguez would've been a big part of the backup plan, but Wells also could work. As one of two additions, I'd be very interested. He's not underpaid, so wouldn't think he'd take significant talent to acquire.

I don't think DeGrom is dramatically more risky than most of the other FA options available. More, yes, but depending on price to acquire the over profile could make more sense for DeGrom than Cease or Suarez or King or whomever else. I think the production upside is as high or higher than all the others, so much so that the extra risk is balanced out.

Rockies removed the interim tag, and named the guy that took over for Buddy Black the full time manager.
Good for him, but I guess all the names that were discussed for the job openings weren't jumping at the chance to take over in Colorado.
