Assistant on a team that won a decent amount with a modest payroll sounds fine to me, definitely curious if Flaherty gets one of the other open jobs

Of course it doesn’t we don’t know anything about him and his name isn’t Ryan Flaherty. No leaks wins again.

I said Ill give him a chance. Dude is 5'8.Only  42. Never played in the show. All things that dont appeal to me. These FA we are going to be going after are going to love hearing the this guy is the manager.

It's not apples to apples and I don't expect him to have a 17-year tenure with 1 WS and 4 pennants...but you have to admit it's funny to list three reasons you don't like about a manager that would also apply to when Earl Weaver got the job lol

Came up with the Rays, then bullpen coach with the Giants, last two years learning from Vogt in Cleveland. Widely respected throughout the game keeps being thrown around. Hotly sought after manager candidate this go round.

Seems he is fairly high regarded in baseball circles. The Guardians were top 7 in both baserunning and defense last year. If he played any part in that tats good. We will see. Thats all anyone should say. Its better to give a guy like this a look than Servais. I do wonder why after spending 4 years in San Fran and working closely with Posey that Posey didnt give him a look. Might be a red flag

Its gonna be about how he connects with the players and what he gets out of them. Can he toughen them up.

They definitely need someone who will give them a swift kick in the ass. No debate there.

It was always going to be someone who is okay with the front office having a lot of say in how he runs the team and the staff he can hire. The big names can hold out for more autonomy.

He’s worked with two organizations (TB and Cle) that are really good at developing pitchers who have success a the MLB level.  That means a lot for an organization that seemingly has a lot of good young pitchers on the horizon.

He and Flaherty seem similar. Flaherty played in MLB. This guy flamed out in AAA. Again, my one yellow flag would be Posey passing on him

Maybe the bigger red flag is that Posey chose to go with someone who has never played, coached or managed at the professional level.
