A lot has been made of recruiting further to the west, but will they be recruiting more physical players, particularly on the interiors?

Interesting article. I think if any sport will be affected by the move it will be BBall. Football should be helped by the conference switch. I think the article makes a good point. The time to get into WPA is right now. Maryland if it is going to be more than a doormat will have to battle Penn State for PA. kids. They need to make headway now while Penn State is on probation. Time will tell if they can be successful.

Agreed, although we'll be competing with Ohio State, which will be a tall task. Of course OSU only has so many scholarships, and MD would probably STILL be improved taking their crumbs.

I made this point on the OH, but MD's first year in the Big 10 will be a very critical one. You will have Diggs and Wes Brown as juniors. You will have CJ Brown as an experienced senior QB (if he can stay healthy). The O-line will be experienced and talented. That could be one of the best offenses in the league. Think about local recruits seeing those guys in the pride uniforms playing in those packed Big 10 stadiums. Every kid in MD will want a piece of that.

Or, they could get their butts kicked and be right back to where they started. That will be a huge year.

No doubt about it, it will be an uphill struggle but the crumbs may make them an improved program and maybe mid Big 10. One can only hope. Watching Maryland in the Big House or the Horseshoe will be different that is for sure.
I have a vague memory of Maryland playing at Michigan years ago. Maybe Bobby Ross led Terps but I could be wrong.

You are correct. Ross talked about in a Sun article I posted. I think it's in the "Terps in the Big Ten" section.

Thanks I missed it, sorry. The Terps under Ross were a lot more formidable then today's group but I think they can get there.

No worries and I hope that didn't come across as condescending. There's no way I can keep track of everything on here and I'm a frequent visitor to this site.

The funny part of that story is how Ross talked about the team staying in a hotel near the Detroit airport instead of in Ann Arbor. He didn't realize how much distance was between the two cities. Guess he could have really used Google Maps back in the day.

He probably learned by the time he came back to Detroit as the coach of the Lions.

No I went back and found it. I remember the game slightly, swore it was competitive but since the Terps got shut out, my memory must be fading.
