Cubs are done. Get Flaherty wrapped up this week. The Braves are the only team that scares me if they want Flaherty.

Am I the only person that just found out Al Bumbry was a platoon leader in Vietnam?

Gotta make sure you've got your best lineup vs LHPs and RHPs

I knew because I remember Chuck Thompson talking about it in a broadcast in the 70's. According to Wikipedia, he was also awarded the Bronze Star.

I knew he had been in the Army before making it to the big show.  I think he was 26 years old his rookie year, so he got a later start in baseball.  Didn't know about Vietnam.

42 years and counting..

10-16-83, I was about to turn 12 years old. Now I'm about to turn 54. I'd really appreciate one more in my lifetime.

I was at the Vet that day.  I left there thinking that the Orioles were the premier franchise in MLB (and at that time, I was right) but it went downhill fast.  It turned out that winning the World Series was the last gasp of the Orioles Glory Years.

The Philly fans were great as we exited the Vet.  So many fans telling us we were #1.  I think they were mixed up on what fingers to use.

It was a popular story line when the Bee was playing.  Al was and probably still is very proud of his service.

Hopefully if it happens again, the Orioles will clinch at Camden Yards.  I will never forget the excitement as we left Veteran Stadium.  What a feeling.

Camden Yards is a cathedral, worthy of an Orioles clinching victory. That needs to happen. That's not greed, it's just.

Amen!!

Last night they showed a graphic on MLB Network with the longest WS droughts in the league, Seattle & Milwaukee were "never", then Pittsburgh, since 1979, then us. Just haven't seen that "in writing", it was quite jarring.

My birthday is the 18th, and my Father was going to take me to Game 6, scheduled that night. So for the first few innings I was sort of secretly rooting for the Phillies so we could come home and I could go. But then my Father reminded me of what happened just 4 years before, blowing a 3-1 lead, losing the last 2 at home, so I whipped right back into shape!

They still have never played on October 18 in team history. Lost two World Series on October 17 though!

If it takes forever!!!!

The previous ownership group had zero interest in a WS visit, let alone a championship. I suppose we'll find out this winter, how Rubenstien and Co. feel about that subject.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

My wife and I have an understanding that we're coming home, if they go to the WS. I told her, it's going to be expensive. She said, no price is too high. She had the comfortable smile of a woman who knows she'll never have to write that check.

The highlight of my senior year in high school. My dad who wasn't a great dad somehow snagged two tickets to game 2. And of course Boddicker did Boddicker things. I'm 60 now and will never forget it.

Tell her I'm willing to contribute to the cause  :)
