Yusei Kikuchi vs Cade Povich

Opportunity to sweep, and pull within 10 of .500.

The O's are 6.5 games behind the 3rd WC.

Passing 7 teams is a tall order.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

One game at a time. Still think its a pipe dream. But its IS still in the realm of possibilities. But every single game between now and the trade deadline is going to seem like a must win game.

Regardless of that, we know they will need something like 86 wins at least, which is 57-36 or a 99+ win full year pace. It ain't over, but that's a big ask for any team, and this team still has big SP flaws.

Teams are really going to openers  this year. I suspect its once a team puts out its lineup in many cases. Wonder what the rule is on that as far as when you have to reveal your lineup and pitcher. Probably game time when someone walks the lineup card out there.

Rule 4.03. 5 minutes before the hour of game managers meet with ump. Home team turns in first, then visitor, then ump gives copy to the other team. Doesn’t really seem like any time for shenanigans.

Exactly how in depth it all gets is speculation. I assume Povich is still planning on pitching today. THink its clear Blewitt is starting to help combat the righties in LA's lineup the first time through

Ive said this before. If I was an opposing manager I would use a lefty opener every game against us.

Not a great lineup today.

For emptying the bench that’s not as bad as it would’ve been a week or two ago.

I’m a fan of Vazquez. Great defense, makes hard contact, and doesn’t whiff much. Basically another version of Joey Ortiz.

Seems like a stretch looking at minor league numbers. Ortiz had a 150 point higher OPS at AAA and 100 points higher at AA.

I think the goal right now is .500 and I don't realistically see us getting there without another long winning streak. Asking this flawed team to play .700 ball the entirety of the rest of the season is a pipe dream. The problem is if that hot streak doesn't come soon they'll probably be sellers and the schedule isn't helping

Poor mans*, sorry. Similar characteristics. Not on my top 50 prospects list whereas Ortiz was in the top 10.

The record makoman showed is well shy of a .700 pace. Agree with the conclusion that it isn't happening, though, either the actual pace needed or the hyperbole. And double agree that Elias selling pieces at the deadline (rightly or wrongly) will derail any hopes of consistent high quality play down the stretch.

I am surprised Adley is out today.  He has good numbers against Kikuchi and he is hitting well.   Mayo gets #1 today.

Agreed, If Bradish and Grayson were back now then I could see it, but with the current rotation it is not likely.

I would guess that Elias is already making plans to sell.  Frankly he’s probably better at selling than he has been buying.

Which is not what you want by a GM when you arevl trying to win a WS.

Yeah an opener is a great idea. Just like with any SP or RP. Gotta have quality but we prefer depth.

Yes, it was hyperbole. I didn't do the math. I just hope we can make the rest of the season watchable.
