Thoughts on Jackson offensively. I havent watched one ABs he has taken.

It seems likely he isnt a passable RF but hes mostly been an infielder. Im just curious about early thoughts on the bat

I think the double down the line was the first ball I have seen that he really hit hard, but he is holding his own.  Keep in mind he has played on the road subject to 2 loud fan bases, so he is probably adjusting to that too, while also learning to play the outfield.  I think we have a better idea on what we have after the next 100 AB, which I think he will get between now and years end.

I kind of hope he can be a more versatile Urias.

I believe his singles were 100+ mph. He has decent speed and a solid arm from RF. I’d like to see more. The bat speed looks good. He’s been fooled on some good changeups but seems to have good pitch recognition. He is aggressive but doesn’t seem to chase before 2 strikes. The thing that made him very intriguing at Norfolk was, in 40 games, 15 doubles, 11 homers, and a low strikeout rate. So far, he’s hitting the ball hard but not driving it in the air and getting struck out by top ML pitchers when they get him in a hole.

Between his AAA numbers and what I’ve seen, we have nothing to lose, and much to gain, by giving him continued time in RF.

September should be Beavers, Cowser, and Jackson in the OF and Mayo/Basallo at 1B/DH, virtually every game. If O’Neill is healthy we can find 4-5 starts per week at LF, RF, DH. Reléase Mountcastle. He’s only going to muck up playing time. Or if O’Neill misses the rest of the year he can spot start, if he wants. If he doesn’t want, bye bye.

According to Savant, Jeremiah Jackson’s average exit velocity is 94.6. Obviously, SSS, but that’s very good.

I wasn't knocking Jackson, but I really didn't remember the hits I have seen being rockets.  I think he has a lot of work to do in the outfield but that is understandable.since he is an infielder who has to play there out of necessity.  We have 45 games left, he should play at least 35.

What kind of infielder is he?  If he is good enough, he could be the super utility guy all good teams have.

I don’t know. I haven’t seen him much, if any. Statistically, he looks passable at SS but better at 2B. I would assume they’re would be someone like Luis Vazquez as the defensive MI, someone like Carlson as the 4th OF, and Jackson who can do both but offers more offense.

Again, I think Jackson is hitting the ball hard but 103 mph grounders aren’t even half as impressive as 103 mph flies. Eventually, he needs to drive the ball in the air. He did at Norfolk. Now, the real test.

I have to share this. I read multiple Orioles FB pages, because they pop up in my feed. There was a conversation about Jackson, and I commented in it. Someone responded to be and said his value is that they will bring him along, build him up, then flip him for a front of the rotation pitcher. I don't like to be mean or insulting, so I just replied and said that was a bold prediction.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

So help me with this.  What do we have to gain?  Let's say they do exactly what you're saying.  Are there results that push you to make that the starting OF next year?

You trade Holliday for Tovar and that's your 2026 team?

Plop him into the former Urias role sounds more like the fit they'd be looking for. Bat first backup infielder, not SS eligible except in an emergency.

He’s actually not bad at SS but for sure better at second or third. Think he’s a perfect bench infielder (and see if they can add OF to the repertoire).

I know we got Westy, Holliday, and Henderson around the Inf but Id still like to see Jackson get some reps on the dirt in Baltimore

If Jeremiah Jackson hits and adjusts to RF, it gives them the option of using him as a RF. Simple as that. Cowser is a separate issue. If he can play an average CF, which is about what he’s done, he’s an option there.

Yes, there are results that could make that the starting OF going into the offseason. Those results might be unlikely but they are possible. The hypothetical trade for Tovar solidifies the IF, adds to the bullpen, and leaves plenty of money to add to the rotation.

Another backup plan if Mayo doesn't work out at 1B.

Suitable INF bench guy. Especially if Westburg can't stay healthy.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Put Holliday in the OF and let Jackson go at 2B.

It would be interesting to see, for sure.
