It's the first time in 17 years that the score hit the over, and only because it went to OT. It had become such a trend that the number was just 32.5 this time.

Most combined wins (19) in Army-Navy history, should be a good one today. Go Navy, Beat Army!

Navy wins convincingly 31-13.

Imagine the reaction right now if instead of losing 49-14 to Notre Dame, Army had knocked off the then-#6 Irish to come into this game as a 12-0 AAC Champ that made it to the CFP over Clemson, only to lose by this same score after the field has been set in stone? Yeah, that would set off a shitstorm from western SC.

I was wondering about this earlier. Had that scenario played out, would the Army-Navy game have been pushed out a bit?

No, the game would have been played this weekend no matter what. Depending on where Army was seeded they'd either play a 1st Rd game next weekend (probably on the road) or if they also jumped ASU they'd get a bye and would probably be in the Peach Bowl on New Year's.

Because they play it this late the game has always taken on a kind of exhibition status. Like I don't know how this would have played out if Navy came in at 5-6, but with all the bowl slots already filled they'd miss out if the won. But now with the expanded CFP and the two schools occasionally having very competitive teams, it has greater potential for chaos.

They should seriously plan for the scenario of one of them making the expanded CFP field. That wouldn’t be good at all to beat up on your fellow service members a weekend before their playoff appearance. I feel like all parties would support that.
