No disrespect meant toward Albert. But if he's the Angels top candidate, I say steer clear. The Angels only make bad decision.

Maybe if Pujols is willing to take a 1 year deal with club option.
This is an A+ answer.

Apropos of nothing I went to a Cardinals v Marlins Spring Training game something like 13-14 years ago. I was directly behind home plate, behind a guy with a radar gun. He hit two freakin moon shots to dead CF that cleared the batter's eye. I was so impressed I bought one of those pretty fly-looking special edition spring training mesh hats to mark the occasion. The plastic snaps broke off before the vacation ended, so that sucked. It's buried on my hat rack somewhere.
ETA - Wow. Time flies. This was more like 2009. So make that 16+ years.

I take it you were at Roger Dean Stadium. My parents used to live just up the road in Hobe Sound and I'd often go visit during ST and catch an O's game there when they still trained at Ft Lauderdale. Nice place to catch a game, easy in-n-out off I95.

Yup. Abacoa. That area has been blowing up like kudzu. My parents live in PGA National down on PGA Blvd. Funny - we moved there from CT in 1985 when I was 15. It was a pretty hip place to live (as a high school student). Now nearly all those people who built homes there have either sold, passed on or remained and are now well, elderly. It's like a gigantic retirement community sprawled out around 5 golf courses.

It's still blowing up, and even more recently. After my stepdad passed away my mom sold the Hobe Sound house and moved into a condo up the road in Stuart. When I visit we drive through all that area (I fly in and out of PBI), and it's just houses and condos popping up everywhere.

Stuart obviously had a head start, but Port St Lucie is what PBG and Jupiter were in the 80s and 90s. It's always interesting when you see sidewalks built out for a few miles with nothing but stakes and flags on lots of land as far as the eye can see. And then within a year the condos begin to fill-out the area.
I just emailed my dad about the name of some local seafood shack on US-1 in Stuart. They had a ridiculously good grouper sandwich. I used to go there with him to visit a buddy of his who had been chased northward (due to rising rent costs in PB county). That guy had some stories. Land surveyor during the construction boom of the 80s. Good grief - the perfect location for a real estate agent if there ever was one.
ETA - It was Lola's Seafood on Federal HWY just south of the Roosevelt Bridge over the St Lucie River / Intracoastal waterway. Apparently that location closed in the past couple years.

When I first read that, a place called King Neptune popped into my head. It's a little south of Stuart in Port Salerno on Dixie Hwy that my mom and I always hit up when I'm in town. Hole-in-the-wall place, but always good.

Thanks for the tip. The reviews are pretty much excellent. When I head down there over the holidays - I'll be headed (up) that way to visit his buddy (Ponytail Bob), and I think I'll recommend this place.

None of the other jobs have been filled recently, feels like a pretty reasonable (and not particularly bold lol) prediction at least a couple of them are waiting to interview guys on the LCS staffs and we won't see much movement until after the WS

i think MLB prefers teams not to take some of the attention away from the LCS.
If Elias is closing in, I expect we may see something in the gap between LCS and WS.

They don't really follow that unwritten rule any longer. If I remember correctly, the Giants hired and announced Bob Melvin during the WS.

Melvin was hired 10/25/2023, which was between the WS and LCSs. That doesn't tell us if the unwritten rule is in effect anymore though.

Giants reportedly going for Tony Vitello from Tennessee, like the college, so that's a pretty bold swing

I was hoping he took the Angels job. He may wind up being great, but I want someone who has at least coached on the Major league level.
I am leaning toward Flaherty, and hope it gets done soon.
