Without the ban, both players are eligible for the Hall's Classic Baseball Era, which next meets to consider players in December 2027 and considers those whose greatest contributions to the sport were before 1980.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

If Bonds, Clemens, Ortiz, McGwire, etc were busted for gambling on MLB (instead of being popped for PEDs), they’d be buried under a jail.

Rose was justifiably banned. The fact Manfred can come out and said that since he’s dead he can’t do any more harm to the integrity of the sport is just so completely misguided, or intentionally misleading.

The point of banning a chud like Pete Rose in perpetuity is also to send a message to the rest of the would-be gamblers that nothing good will come from it, and that no, your children will not reap a financial windfall should you be reinstated after you pass on.

MLB had that fool’s head on a pike and they breathed new life into him. The guy who was a degenerate in every way imaginable.
