This is a microcosm of my beef with Elias. This approach has led to an incredibly undesirable result leading back to June 23, 2024. Wouldn’t it be more important to evaluate your approach to identify where the rot is? Hubris, man. He needs to go. He’s holding us back at this point.

His point would be fine if you were talking about 2 or 3 weeks if bad baseball. We not. We're talking 5 months of it.

This is the one thing I liked about this article. I hope Ruby follows through if needed.

Then there should be an urgency to fire Hyde. And hopefully there is and this is all public speak on May 2

Elias said it himself though, all he cares about is the process being followed. And they’re doing that. He’d rather go down with the ship then evaluate whether or not it’s his process that led us to this mess. Hubris. Fatal flaw IMO.Then there should be an urgency to fire Hyde. And hopefully there is and this is all public speak on May 2
I know I’m laying it on right now. I truly hope I’m wrong.

If they wanted to win now why did they punt on the last offseason?

I'd encourage anyone to not just read the article with/about the words, but go what the actual video (it's on MASN).
1) he is really uncomfortable. My guess is he was told to do this. This could have been a lot about DR doing some evaluation.
2) He uses the same backdrop phrases to every situation. prior to last offseason, prior to the trade deadline, the offseason before, the trade deadline before. The words aren't specifically wrong, until you realize there's nothing behind them and then you're just repeating phrases because you don't know what else to do and you think it protects you.
3) Saying things like "we're doing everything we can" seems wildly hollow. Like what are you actually doing. How would I know the difference between that and nothing. For the most part, there really isn't anything you can do. This is the Team you built (not Hyde, you) and we're likely experiencing the challenges associated with non-Talent factors.
4) For the bolded above, I actually think there are a couple things you can do, but we haven't shown any real inclination or tools to do them. Firing Hyde isn't one of those things. None of this is Hyde's fault although he'll eventually take the blame.
5) Elias leaning on his experience is always so funny to me. He was part of the Luhnow separation in STL and followed him to HOU. He got out of HOU just in time (Sig too) because nobody from there has a job in MLB, post-scandal. He got the Orioles job because he was willing to collapse the Organization and work internally for unique Angelos purposes. He didn't/doesn't really care why Angelos family needed him for that, it's exciting for him because he got to do things he was super comfortable with. Now we're seeing the parts of the job that he's not comfortable with. If the Orioles were winning more, Elias would admit he's working on and excited about the Draft.
