“North Carolina also discussed its vacancy with Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan, multiple program and industry sources said, but felt it could not wait for Donovan from a timing perspective. Donovan wanted to coach out the rest of the NBA regular season, which runs through Sunday, five days after college basketball’s transfer portal opens.

That delay would’ve put UNC at a significant disadvantage in building next year’s roster, especially without a firm commitment from Donovan that he would take the job.”

 

That’s too bad. Cuz Billy Donovan to UNC would’ve been a home run hire.

And given the Bulls fired their top two front office people today, he might have been even more inclined to leave. Malone is an interesting choice. No college coaching experience…but off the court, college is pretty much a full-blown professional operation now.

He’s a good coach, feel like his style would probably work well in college. Daughter plays on the UNC volleyball team, so he was probably more than happy to throw his hat in the ring.

UConn has done a good job muddying up the game.  They just will not quit.

Ugly but the best team won.  The Big 10 drought is over.  They were the best conference in the tournament and had the champion.

Big Ten was strong at the top and awful at the bottom.

Not a game for the ages, but close enough throughout to be entertaining. I was beginning to wonder if Michigan was going to figure out how to handle UConn's backcourt pressure in the final minutes; the first couple of times, they looked like they'd never seen a full-court press.
