So if it hasn’t already begun, the discussion of this team’s place in history among worst MD teams ever will probably be coming. For me, there were worse teams than this. Two of the three Bob Wade seasons (including one where they were 0-14 in the ACC) were definitely worse. Of course a big part of that had to do with off court things. There was also a couple of really bad seasons early in Gary’s tenure when they were under NCAA sanctions (in one they were banned from TV, so unless you saw them play in person you can only go by their record and box scores).
I do think this team might be the most disappointing ever. Terrible was the expectation for those teams above due to the circumstances, but it seemed like the consensus was this team could be middle of the pack in the conference. Instead they could potentially finish tied for dead last.
