Rice has a fantastic story, really resilient kid and very productive player. Solid addition for sure.

Rice and Rice in the back court sounds right.

Andre Mills would be a good get if Williams can get him to come over from TAMU. 4 star redshirt freshman 6'4" guard with good upside.

Mills was supposed to have a prominent role at TAMU next year due to the graduation of their 2 senior guards. He should be fairly ready having the redshirt year under his belt

Maryland is reportedly targeting Mekhi Mason (Washington). He’s an Arizona native with one year of eligibility remaining who began his career at Rice. Averaged 9.9 points per game for the Huskies last season.

Whats there to get excited about Rice. Stats say his scoring is all volume. Not a good FG or 3 point % shooter

He’s a slasher, strong finisher through contact, energetic defender. Indiana didn’t use him well, tried to make him a catch-and-shoot off-ball guard. Good free throw shooter.

I hope Rice comes back! He's a good solid guard. We also need quality depth at all positions. Our starting 5 was good during the 1st half of the Florida game, but in the 2nd half, it was evident that Florida's depth was way too much for MD to keep up with. They brought in fresh bodies with literally no drop off of talent.

Yeah I mean Selton Miguel improved his FG% and 3P% and he did that going from facing Michigan State and Purdue instead of Tulsa and ECU, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that guys can get better with a new situation

He is a kid who has overcome a lot of personal adversity. and is a pretty good player.  Maryland needs to build an entirely new team in 2 to 3 weeks, Rice is a good get.

None of these guys are on the top 50 portal transfer list. At least not the one I saw. Im sure Williams will prepare them well enough. I dont think hes a bad coach. It will be boring and grindy though. Not fun

His year at Indiana was underwhelming, but he was the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year, and All Pac 12 the year before.
That's not nothing.

Indiana's Portal class was 2nd overall last year, and he was part of why.

They've now added two guys who scored in double figures last year.
I'm hoping they can get 5-6 more... don't know how realistic that is... but if they have 7-8 guys who averaged double figures, I'll feel good about their ability to put up enough points. Like guys who have experienced putting the ball in the basket.

So, I've seen questions about Rice's ability to play the 1... but that seems like his position.
Payne seems like a 4/5.

So, starter wise... looking for a 2 (Rodney Rice hopefully), a 3, and a 5.

Saw a report that Gillespie turned down $3M from Willard and Nova, and got at-least that much from Tennessee.

I think Buzz will coach the team based on the talent he has. Everyone seems to think that he will bring the same style that he had with TAMU and maybe he will if he has a team that can't shoot. But, I believe he will do what it takes based on what he has to work with. We will see.

It's definitely less enjoyable knowing that you'll probably be rooting for a different team every season. You'll have very few guys who actually stay around for 3-4 years. It's also exciting that if you happen to have a dud team, you'll probably have an entirely new team to root for next season.

I wish there was like a limit on how many times or a minimum number of seasons (say, 2 yesrs) that a player has to abide by. Everyone is basically a one year mercenary at this point.
