I was surprised to see Franklin Barreto on the list. He was the lead prospect from the Jays a decade ago in the trade with (then) OAK for Josh Donaldson. huh.

Pitchers and Catchers report today. Fingers crossed Elias's first presser doesnt reveal any bad news. Trade could always still happen but Im kind of resigned to it not happening now.

What do you mean? Like injuries?

First ST presser last year was the first time we heard about Wells and Bradish's arm troubles.

Yes. First couple days are always "hold your breath" for me. Not just injuries that they already know about (like Bradish last year), but as guys ramp up again you never know who will break. Reminds me of that first time I fire up the riding mower after the winter. Always breathe a sigh of relief when it starts up and runs well. What a perfectly redneck analogy.

I think the guest coach thing is very cool. I wonder if the players care at all. Also wonder if any of these guest coaches have intentions of getting into coaching. Hardy strikes me as someone who'd make a good coach.

That is a pretty good list of guest coaches. I wonder if Britton, still has the itch to jump on the mound?

The Boys are back in Sarasota. All is right with the world.
I thought all off season a trade was coming but it is less likely now.

This has more of a fan engagement type of feel to it with the way they are publicizing it. I'm sure the former players are happy to share any tips or wisdom with the current team and will do so whenever solicited, but I'd be surprised if these guys aren't doing just as much fan-mingling.

I have gone to 3 or 4 Spring training trips and you're not wrong in that they do touch base with fans, but they are out on the field with the players to. I think in part to create the connection with the past but I am sure there is some serious baseball talk.

Wow, hard to believe T-Bone Shelby is 66 years old! I loved him when he first came up - I’ll never forget that throw in Milwaukee in September 1982. He followed that up with his first MLB HR on the final Friday of the season against the Brewers.

Chayce McDermott has a mild lat strain and is expected to resume throwing in about 2 weeks. In the meantime, please keep him socially distanced from Grayson in case it’s contagious.

How do you get a lat strain 2 days into ST?
