There's a couple ways to look at grades and everyone will bias their grade towards some perspective.  That's fine, just explain your perspective so it's not ever going to be apples to apples in the poll.

You can look at grades in terms of "winning the offseason" or "improvement of the club versus last year" or "opportunities of the offseason".  It is the offseason grade, not the Win Total prediction.

If the Orioles do wind up doing something else that changes your grade, change it.

The offseason thus far is a “D”

D’s get degrees. But they don’t win titles.

I still don’t understand why, with such a talented young and cheap core, they didn’t really augment anything.

Lol at a D. Its a B right now and will go up when we make our trade. Thread should be deleted until the start of ST

If they had simply replaced what they lost, I'd call that a C. They did less than that, so C-/D or whatever. No, I don't consider Morton+Sugano a replacement for Burnes.

I don't see how the grade can be good when they are worse than they were in October.

The team is worse than it was at the end of last season. Hence a D

Open to waiting for more moves though

They arent worse. That was a team barely hanging on and needed some different life. If I have one criticism its that Elias didnt do enough to change up the position player mix and or fire Hyde. We will see what the offense looks like once season starts. Steps forward by a few guys and this will still be a Top 5 offense in baseball. Im not worried about pitching at all.

About as bad as it can get but I still like what they had in house. Several uber talented guys entering their primes. World Series aren’t won in the off season. Still high on hope, but that’s as poor an off season effort as you’ll see for a team in our position IMHO.

I give the offseason (so far, I guess) a D.

I look at it more about opportunities to improve the team as well as other things wrt roster management (not all adding players) and things like extensions.  Anything that provides opportunity and direction.  Easy to accomplish 1-year deals to fringe players doesn't get it done for me.  I think there was more to do this offseason than say last offseason.  Last year we were 1-year bridge closer and find good SP and you can get a B+.  They didn't get the other things done, but the core roster was stable.  I just think there was more to do this offseason.

Offense: Not a fan of the O'Neill or Sanchez deals or the roster management.

Starting pitching.  I like Morton for similar reasons as a (lesser) guy like Verlander  I have my concerns about him, but I view him statistically as below Kremer.  Sugano/5 and Morton/4 are both below Kremer/3.  I'd have rather added guys that keep Kremer at 5.

Bullpen: I like Kittredge just fine and I'm curious if there's some recruiting there from Eflin and Morton.  I don't view him as dramatically different than Webb, but he's been good.  I have concerns about bullpen options and the associated consequences.  SP really needs to keep the bullpen workloads down.

I'm not grading extensions on the Boras guys, I have no expectation of them extending. There are other places I'd look.

I've shared my concerns with this roster in other places and I still have those concerns.  <<--Hopefully wrong there.

D+ or C- right now. We've lost more than we've gained. Internal improvement should span the gap and have us be about the same as last year, but that's not good enough for me to give it more than a barely passing grade if I'm feeling kind.

They've lost Webb, Coulombe, Tony, Burnes, McCann. Gained Kittredge, O'Neill, Morton, Sugano, Sanchez plus Felix is back. I'm fine with the other spots, but the SP is obviously worse without Burnes. Can't seriously argue otherwise IMO.

You are a dummy who wanted to sign a still unsigned  36 yr old backup C to a 3 yr deal.

You think anyone won't factor in any future moves and adjust accordingly?

It's been a huge missed opportunity of an off-season so far. Not enough done to turn the pitching staff into a strength.

You knew Burnes wasnt resigning and we had zero shot at any of the other top tier guys. Not to mention the stupidity of giving Burnes or Fried a 6 or 7 year 250 mil deal even if we coulda beat out their final destinations. Elias played this offseason well in terms of FA. Stand behind it. Still a lot of flexibility both in season and next offseason.  A trade will happen.

Elias went out and plugged rotation holes with solid middle rotation guys, got a lefty mashing OF with upside, upgraded at backup C, and got a solid back end BP arm.

Sure, we didn't get someone to match Burnes level, but maybe Rodriguez takes that step this year. Maybe Elias still has a trade for another mid to upper rotation arm up his sleeve.

I dont get what people expected and those that gave Ds or Fs need to specifically explain why. I want names and I want a concession that FA isnt all about who you want to sign. The player has to choose you. Now, if someone thinks we should have traded for Crochet thats fine. You can mark us down for that. But these bad grades are only because we lost Burnes and didnt sign a perceived TOR starter and thats just too singlularly focused and not understanding that none of the FAs in that top tier were signing in Baltimore.

I think a C is fair.  I still think a trade is coming, but time is running short.  Our rotation concerns me.
