Let the Curt Cignetti to Happy Valley Campaign begin.

I guess, and I have never been a fan of Franklin, but college sports are so F'd up.  The guy had his team in the National semi-finals last year and in the B10 championship game.  He gets paid 56 M to go away.  The money boys are running the major programs now more than ever.  56 M to not coach.  I would not do the job for a whole lot less.

He was 15-28 against ranked opponents, including 4-26 against Top 10 teams and 1-18 against Top 5 teams. He could never win the big games, so this has been building for awhile. All it took was an inability to win the small games against UCLA and Northwestern for him to get the boot.

I've seen just under $50M that he's owed. But nonetheless, doubt Penn State will even end up paying him that much, as his contract contains both a "duty to mitigate," meaning he has to seek new employment and can't just spend the rest of his contract sitting on a beach in Maui drinking mai tais, and an offset clause which means whatever his new salary is that ends up being subtracted from what PSU owes him.

Let the Curt Cignetti to Happy Valley Campaign begin.

His buyout just got more expensive. Just agreed to a new 8-year contract with Indiana worth approximately $11.6 million per year. Now the third-highest paid coach in the country. Buyout details TBD.

Seeing reports that the buyout increased from $10 million to $15 million as part of this deal.

Obviously Penn State has a deep pool of resources that any coach would deem attractive, but it seems like Indiana is pretty serious in their commitment to sustain what Cignetti has started. Interestingly I just read somewhere yesterday that Indiana passed Penn State for #1 on the list of schools with the largest living alumni base in the country.

Miami lost at home to Louisville 24-21, with Carson Beck throwing 4 INTs. Inevitable a Cristobal team was going to trip over its own shoes eventually. Might as well crown Ohio State champions now, because it’s looking like a forgone conclusion.

And now they’ve gone two straight three and outs. Meanwhile the Rebels defense has yet to hold Georgia to a possession without points.

Wisconsin lost to Ohio State 34-0. Less than 50-50 Luke Fickell is still the Badgers head coach this time tomorrow.

UAB knocked off #22 Memphis 31-24 in their first game after firing Trent Dilfer. Their interim coach is Alex Mortensen, son of late ESPN broadcaster Chris Mortensen.

USF, after handling FAU 48-13, is in the driver's seat for that final CFP spot.

Just win out, baby.

Ole Miss about to win at Oklahoma.

OU was down 8 (34-26) with the ball in Ole Miss territory with 1:30 left.

The 3rd and 4th down decisions were horrible.

Maybe spoke too soon.

OU getting the ball back.

Ole Miss punting with 1:10 left.

Turns out it's USF who's in the driver's seat for that playoff spot. They're absolutely cooking on the road against a damn good North Texas team tonight.

Well, with Memphis’ win over USF today the Tigers move into the top spot for the playoff. Should be a good race down the stretch. Tulane definitely in the mix as well.

Pretty sure this is the first time Frank Reich has faced Miami since 1984, when he turned a 31-0 MD halftime deficit into a 42-41 win.
