Second quad 1 win of the year and the other was home vs OSU (NET #30) so this is now the best win on their resume

Another question, has Queen always been this good of a post passer? I haven't watched since early season but I certainly don't remember him passing this effectively from the block. Some of those passes down low to Reese were works of art and that would be nearly unstoppable for most teams.

They didn’t call him “Baby Jokic” in high school for nothing.

Illinois was clearly short-handed in the post, but MD did exactly what you're supposed to do in that situation - attack early, attack often, and don't let up until the final buzzer. Now make this win stand up at Indiana and build some momentum.

Oh, and Illinois needs to get their floor checked out. That moment late when Gillespie lost his dribble out of bounds at first looked like it may have hit off his his foot, but the replay angle showed it came nowhere near his or anyone else's foot. With all that Big Ten money there's no excuse to have a floor in the sort of condition that wouldn't even cut it at your local 24-Hour Fitness.

Might be wrong but when I saw the slo-mo highlight it looked to me like it might have gone off another Terps foot.  The broadcast crew missed it and talked about a "dead spot" in the floor, but the ONE and only time they showed it, looked like it might have hit off someone trying to set a screen for him?  I dunno...

With yesterday's result Maryland moves to 6-2 in Champaign, tied with a 6-2 record at Rutgers for their most friendly road environment since moving to the Big Ten

Last night was a much needed win.    I am hoping that Reese and Queen learned a little about working as one last night.  I think this was the first time the two have performed well together in a game that was not a Non Conference cup cake.

I was surprised to see them playing double low at times.  That gives the opposition more to worry about.

I think if they can force more double down, it will create more open looks from 3.  I think they only took 11 3's last night.

They lost to Washington and Northwestern for Gods sake. Just ridiculous.

Feel like every team has bad losses, but they also really didn't win any big games either except against a struggling UCLA team.

The Washington loss in particular is unacceptable

They really do suck so I agree. Just ridiculous.

That said, it'll be interesting to track cross-country records over the next few years with a larger sample.

I hope this year's 0-2 swing makes them schedule an OOC road game on the west coast annually, no reason to not take a yearly trip to Cal, Stanford, SDSU, Wazzu, etc

They are going to Maui in '26, so there's that. I think it's a lot easier on teams that go east-to-west than vice versa, since you're gaining hours instead of losing them. At least that's how it's always been for me when I cross multiple time zones.

I'd be happy just to see them play more true road games against decent competition, no matter where it is. I really do think those types of games early prepare you better for your conference schedule. I get you always have holes to fill in the early season schedule, and some of those games will have to be against the likes of St Francis and Canisius, but the extent to which they did that this season was downright shameful and did not benefit the team in any way.
