I had forgot about the Tucker date.
The new league year has started right? It was the 12th?
Yeah... doesn't look good for them cutting him.
I thought they would. Very disappointing if they don't.

I assumed they would wait for the NFL investigation to play out and use that as cover to make their decision.
Waiting for whatever league-led investigation is happening to reach some sort of end point / conclusion / decision seems reasonable enough to me. Again, it is mid March, aside from public thirst for some sort of bloodletting the instant bad news hits the interwebs, there's no real need for a roster decision YET.

I think Tucker will be gone by camp. I am fine with them doing what ever saves the most cap room.

Also think they dont want to totally telegraph they are looking to draft a K. Obviously teams know his situation but if you release him pre draft with no K on the roster it leaves zero doubt.

The only issue with this scenario is that there's no real timeline for the league investigation to end. In theory, it could bleed into the season. As I stated in the other thread, Tucker can't face legal or civil penalties because of the age of the allegations. I think it's obvious at this point that the Ravens are going to make their decision based on the league investigation.

Plenty of teams without a kicker don't raft a kicker. More often than not new kickers come into the league as undrafted guys. I get that the Ravens love subterfuge and not indicating what they're gonna do with draft picks, but I think the gamesmanship becomes less important when you're talking a potential 6th or 7th round pick.
I think the inaction so far is because they don't want to release him and are hoping this blows over. I think that they either don't believe or don't care about the accusations. Hoping they do something to cause me to reassess.

I dont know what the crop of K look like this year but sometimes there are ones drafted in the middle rounds. I could see multiple reasons why we are in the holding pattern we are right now. Weve pretty much covered all of them. I think draft subterfuge could play a part as well.Plenty of teams without a kicker don't raft a kicker. I think ultimately, they're waiting to see what the NFL does with Tucker. Not exactly proactive on the Ravens part but it is what it is. Tucker has been with them a long time and won them many games so maybe they feel he at least deserves their loyalty until proven otherwise. The frustrating part is the NFL doesn't really have any more to go on than what we already know. I don't think they'll uncover any new, startling evidence. It's still going to be the women's word against Tucker. I get the whole, "where there's smoke, there's fire" incrimination but without any concrete, physical evidence, it just boils down to what you believe happened. There's a lot of fans out there backing Tucker and don't want him released. If the NFL doesn't find anything more than he said, she said, and doesn't suspend him, then yes, I do think there's a decent possibility the Ravens carry on with him as their kicker. If he is suspended, he'll be released and his career is likely over.

I dont see how they can keep him, though I think they've likely known about this for most of his career. When it becomes public, the optics are too bad to try to retain him.
Well, if you truly believe the accusations, the optics are already bad. A couple of the spas that he was banned from had pretty close ties to the Ravens. (They were recommended by the team.) It's hard for me to believe that they hadn't heard any complaints about Tucker until several months ago.

Of course they had, but they'll deny it. It's like Rice - if the video never came out he would have started the next season with them.

It's very plausible the team knew about all this years ago. It seems like several random nobodies posted stuff talking about the allegations years ago before any of this came out, almost like it was a somewhat well known secret around town. If random people know this about a famous player it's going to get back to the team eventually. If so you'd think they'd look into it after Ray Rice, but maybe they put their head in the sand.

The Rice situation came to a head in the summer of 2014. He played at least one preseason game when the allegations surfaced. At the time, domestic violence carried a two game suspension I believe. After the tape came out it was game over.
It's curious that the Tucker accusations are pretty much 2014-2016. All this happened on the heels of the Ray Rice situation. I'm guessing that Tucker was never confronted by anyone in the front office or coaching staff about the accusations. It was probably communicated through his agent to keep it an arm's length from the team. We'll never know for sure, but it's interesting that there are no accusations post 2016.

Running Tucker back out there would be a PR disaster.

Very much similar to Rice, Tucker's best days are probably behind him. Should be fairly easy for the team to cut bait. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll do it, but are waiting for whatever the league has to say.

For some but not everyone. He still has a ton of support from fans. Initially, I thought there was no way he'd be able to come back from this but as the days and weeks have come and gone, a part of me thinks he'll be out there come summer.
