How about dem Pelicans!!!! AD was insane yesterday. NOLA isn't much of a basketball town but they are getting behind this team now. And Jrue Holiday was pretty dang incredible too. Too bad we lost Cousins back in January. This team could be a real threat.

Seemed inevitable. New Orleans should wait until the offseason though, since that's when the team likely to offer the most assets in return (Boston) can realistically enter the bidding picture.

I agree....but they better know what they want and that Boston will give it.

They also could deal with the Knicks and get the #1 pick, if that is what happens in the lottery.

Yeah, knowing the draft order will also be a benefit to NO as far as offers go. They should certainly start listening to all offers right now, and gauge his value. But I'm sure every team knows it's in the Pelican's best interest to wait until summer, so the bidders might not be willing to put all their cards on the table yet.

Well, the Lakers will IMO.

Their offer can't really get any better.  They have what they can offer.  If I am the Lakers, I am putting all my cards on the table right now.  If you are NO, you may have to do it and not wait.  Davis could come out and say he won't sign with Boston or NY and if he does say that, you may get less for Davis than you could now.

Its a big gamble to wait...one that could pay off big but one that could really backfire.

About the only thing the Lakers can offer in the summer that they can't now is to take a contract off NO's hands along with Davis. Someone like Solomon Hill and the $13 million he's owed next season would free up even more cap space for the Pelicans. Not sure how much that would appeal to them though, since they already have a good chunk of money going off the books this summer, plus Davis' contract. And it's not like they'll be in the sweepstakes for guys like Durant or Kawhi. Either way, their best play is probably to tell the Lakers to get back to them in the summer and get in on the bidding war then.
