This guy cant miss bats. What are we doing. Im close to letting Ricker go ham and not rein him in
Of course it's not apples to apples, but if his pitching translates here it'll be because he continues to generate weak contact.

Was posted in 2020 and no one wanted him. Ricker you are on standby

13M means he's the answer for the rotation.
This isn't Hyde's fault.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if he's better than Kremer. Or I guess bitterly disappointed in a bad season for Dean...
If he’s 2nd added with a 1-2 it’s fine. He just has to bump Kremer to 5 with new guy Eflin GRod ahead of him.

If you guys can be optimistic about Gary freakin Sanchez taking over a larger BUC role for a team with massive playoff aspirations, I can hold out hope that this opens the door for Rubenstein to cut a check to Roki Sasaki.

Kuroda could be a good comp. Not being a huge strikeout guy in Japan doesn't seem to translate to poor performance in MLB. Wei-Yin Chen is another example. Some of these guys strikeout numbers actually spike once they get here.
MLB was 8.6 K/9 last year. Sugano was 6.4, but his league was 6.9. Hitters have different priorities over there.

He was posted at a younger age and no one signed him. Hes gonna be 35. I just dont get it. I also am skeptical he could transition to the pen and be anything more than a mop up guy
Nobody offered him a deal large enough to convince him to move to the other side of the planet.
If this is last word by Elias on the rotation? I get the concern, but this was done completely without any media awareness. Why assume he doesn't have any other irons in the fire?

Its just hard to see them signing 2 more FAs. I hope you are right though. I talked about the possiility of trading Kremer last week

I was thinking one FA, one trade. But time will tell. This is definitely not “the answer”. Bare minimum it’s this front offices first foray into the Asian market, maybe pays dividends down the road.
I will say that I agree this isnt the only SP addition, Hes not "the answer for the rotation". Another laughable post.

He signed for 4/40M right after his posting ended so that's probably around where you needed to be. As far as I can tell, Bauer was the only SP who signed for more than even 25M total that year, though a few signed for more than 10M on 1 year deals. Stroman and Gausman accepted qualifying offers. We forget 2020 was weird and every team was claiming to be broke.

But agree that I won't complain if he's the second addition behind a really good SP. If it's him and Nick Pivetta, I will be displeased.
If you dont expect him to be better than Kremer then what are we doing. Dean pitched well at the end of the year but his rWAR was 0.5. His fWAR was 1.4. His xERA was 4.49. His ERA+ was 92. We dont need another Dean Kremer or worse in the rotation. Dean is a #5 and one with higher upside than this guy. Now, if hes a replacement for Kremer who is traded then I can deal with that. But Elias better have multiple more moves cooking.

I would think they'd need to offer more than what he signed for in Japan. IMO Bauer was signing those one year deals cuz he was beating women senseless during his dark sexcapades and wanted his money up front once the other shoe dropped on him.
Agreed re: the poverty claim in MLB. Hell, Boston let Mookie go. That's a flare up into the night sky if there ever was one.
