Literally no one has said Lamar is blameless in playoff losses. No idea where that even comes from
Exactly.
He had a piece of the blame.
You win as a team, you lose as a team.
QBs get more of the credit, and more of the blame.
Got it.
The general narratives that exist with Jackson are annoying af to me.
He was a rookie in '18. Played half a season, yet people will hang that playoff loss on him. That's silly to me.
He was an MVP in '19, his first year starting the whole year. Okay, want to put that playoff loss on him, fine.... but again, first year starting.
'20... they won a game (he was great), they lost a game (he wasn't, also got knocked out).
'21.. the Ravens were a contender until he got hurt.
'22... the Ravens were a contender until he got hurt.
'23... they won a game, they lost a game. They were the better team than KC, and they were home. Want to put that on him, that's fine... but obviously KC has won a lot of games, and losing to them in the AFC Championship is no shame.
Ohh Lamar can't beat Pittsburgh... '24 was the first time he played them twice in a year. Saturday was the first time he played Pittsburgh at home with fans in the stands. Didn't even play them at all in '22. Just basically missed a lot of games against the Steelers.
If you are a fan of any team, you want your team to regularly be in the hunt.
To have a chance.
There are multiple ways to build a team, and I do think the Ravens could have built a contender without him.... but he's a 2x MVP... he could possibly win a 3rd... he's typically the best player on the field.... he cares about winning more than his numbers, he comes across humble... he always builds up his teammates. How can you not love the guy? Right now in his prime, he gives the Ravens a chance to win it all. This needs to be enjoyed.
If you can't enjoy this run without the Ravens winning it all, ok, I guess.
To me, it would be hard to enjoy a championship, if I spent the entire season saying, "Gotta prove it to me first. Won't let myself get hurt again."
But that's me.
People are going to fan as they want.
Ultimately it's very hard to win it all in any sport.
And in a team game - even when you are the most valuable piece - it's not just about you.
Many things have to go right.
Which typically means your team probably won't be the last one standing. But the fight, the year to year drama... that's all part of it.
Again, for me, at-least.
