Maryland is reportedly set to hire Andre Powell as part of their 2025 coaching staff. He spent three years as an assistant on Randy Edsall's staff from 2011-14, serving as special teams coordinator and running backs coach. He's widely expected to take over special teams coordinator duties from James Thomas, Jr. after a rough year for that unit last season. His position coach duties have yet to be officially announced.

Powell has officially been named as Maryland’s new Special Teams Coordinator. He won’t have position coach duties as things currently stand.

Defensive coordinator Brian Williams has left the program to become the defensive coordinator at Jacksonville State. This is a strange lateral move, but does get him back to his home state. He was one of the best recruiters on Locksley’s staff.

Maryland is reportedly set to hire Ted Monachino as their new defensive coordinator. He spent the last two seasons on Mack Brown’s coaching staff at North Carolina, and has 16 years of NFL coaching experience (including 6 as the Baltimore Ravens’ outside linebackers coach from 2010-15).

Maryland has officially made a number of changes to their coaching staff for next season. These come as additions to the already-announced hires of Pep Hamilton (Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach) and Andre Powell (Special Teams Coordinator). Expect Ted Monachino to be announced as the new Defensive Coordinator & Outside Linebackers Coach soon.
