Yeah, not sure why the dig at Miguel for coming from South Florida. Gillespie is from Belmont. Jahmir Young was from Charlotte.

It wasn’t a dig. I’m actually a USF alum and watch USF games as often as possible (when they’re a watchable team). I was also born and raised in Connecticut. I follow UConn basketball religiously.

That’s probably why I’m telling you they lack playable depth at guard.

Willard went with 6 last night getting the most of minutes. He has 10 pretty usable guys.

He will play 8 most of time.

What's the point about Miguel? He was the 6th man of the year in the AAC. He's going to be a regular contributor.

Then why didn’t he use them? Marquette outscored Maryland 15-5 off turnovers, which told you the tale of the tape louder than missed free throws.

We agree, Willard was not comfortable using his depth against a quality team in the 4th game of the season.
We're not agreed that Willard not being comfortable going deeper into the bench in game 4, means he won't be as the year progresses.

6 players are averaging 20+ minutes.

10 players are averaging 10.8+ minutes.

Gapare, Geronimo, Palmer, and Young averaging between 10.8 and 14 minutes per.

The guards and wings are Gillespie, Rice, Miguel, DHS, Palmer, Stephens, and Young.

Young might be the best defensive guard on the team.
Stephens minutes will increase as he gets his legs under him, and might be the best shooter on the roster.
Palmer is a bit ahead physically than I expected.

Gillespie, Rice, Miguel, and DHS are all going to continue to get big minutes.

Gapare, and Geronimo are going to get plenty of minutes as reserve bigs.

Marquette beat #6 Purdue last night, fairly handily. Purdue beat #8 Alabama last week (when they were ranked #2). Point being, I think Maryland is pretty damn good, and should get better.

Sounds like the Big Ten might be pretty down this year, and none of the four new members are going to be of any help with that. A Top 6 finish may be the cutoff if they want to dance.

I read that Willard doesn't run plays where the 5 is at the top of the key. Do you know why that is?

And Alabama took care of Illinois (25) in Tuscaloosa Wed night.

Maryland will go as far as their guards can lead them. Queen isn't the type of guy who is going to completely takeover a game the way Carmelo Anthony willed a Syracuse team to a title in his Frosh season. He needs to be fed. And it's on Willard to make that happen (with the guards he has).

Queen is a good passer, but mostly I imagine it's because he's looking to screen at the top.

The guards and wings are pretty solid overall.  There is some legitimate promise.
There are also some legitimate questions about the shooting.
Can they consistently knock down enough shots to help space the floor, especially when you have two bigs who are best around the basket?

That's the question.

If they start knocking down shots consistently (and Rice starting helps imo); this can be a Top 25, S16 team.
