Following their road loss to #1 Oregon, Maryland returns home to face off against Rutgers on Saturday evening. The Scarlet Knights currently hold a record of 5-4 (2-4) and are coming off of a home victory over Minnesota last weekend. Before that game, they'd lost four straight contests. Greg Schiano is in the fifth year of his second stint at the helm in Piscataway, and will be looking to lead his team to consecutive bowl games for the first time since 2014.
Rutgers doesn't do any one thing particularly well, their offense and defense are both ranked towards the bottom of the conference and are evenly split with their run and pass numbers. They do rank as one of the least-penalized teams in the country, though. Realistically, Maryland must win this game and the one next week against Iowa to reach a bowl game this season.
Maryland opens as 3.5-point favorites in this game, and ESPN gives them a 60.0% chance to win.
