This is huge. Doubt the O's can convince him to sign here, but could use every penny of International bonus money, maybe make trades to acquire more. Not sure if they're allowed to offer a deal that gets him to free agency earlier, but if it's legal I'd do that, too. Like a 3-year deal then he's a FA. Whatever you can do.

Exactly this, word for word.

Likely that he wouldn't sign until the new bonus period starts on January 15. Probably not posted until mid-December so the 45 day posting period eclipses 1/15 with some margin.

He'll be a Yankee or Dodger most likely.

Some disturbing trends with him. Ill link a youtube vid I found that was pretty good. TJ surgery seems imminent.

Not saying Im still not interested but made me rethink going all in

Dodgers or Padres. I doubt any team on the east coast has a shot.

Could see the Giants making a play too.

"All in" is about what we paid Kimbrel this year. If he had TJ yesterday it'd still be worth doing.

The fact that we simply can't attempt to outbid everyone else, not that we'd do that anyways, would be my biggest concern.

You can't really sway him with money, so he'll likely end up somewhere he actually wants to be.

Crazy the Angels obtained Ohtani for a measly $2.3 million.

I guess I dont really know how the posting stuff works. Or maybe theyve changed the rules. I always thought you had to have the highest bid to the Japanese team for the right to negotiate with the player. The player can decide to go back to Japan but can only come to the US with the highest bidder

So since he'd be a minor league FA, the posting team would only get 25% of whatever contract he signs, if I read that right.

The Orioles have never been involved in the posting system, though they did have some slight success in the Asian market during the Andy MacPhail and Dan Duquette ERAs.

Koji Uehara, Wei-Yin Chen, Hyun Soo Kim.

Whatever it is he isnt gonna choose to come here when the money is so capped and relatively equal. The best thing about this is one of the teams will blow their wad on him instead of a different Int FA who might actually consider us

No confirmation, but seen some speculation that Sasaki had a clause in his contract that kinda forced his team to post him. Though he wanted to be posted last year and wasn't so maybe that's untrue.

Kinda surprised he doesn't just wait two years then can get a crazy deal like Yamamoto. But maybe he cares more about MLB than the money. He's gonna make a ton back home on endorsements anyways.
