But that call gets made all of the time. The ball was well out of Daniels hands and Hamilton could have pulled up and instead laid him out. Now I'm all for letting the QB get hit. I grew up as a kid watching football in the 70's and the hits they flag today were every passing play hits on the QB. I'm just saying it's called all the time and it would not have been questioned if they called it there. The booth guys even said it should have been a penalty.
I'm not saying I was arguing for them to make the call, I'm just saying the narrative that the Ravens are targeted more than any other team is not true. It may seem that way at times, but for the most part the officiating in the league is inconsistent and not really biased against anyone. it may be that some teams sell the penalty better than others, but no team is really targeted more than others.
I think you're right that Jackson doesn't get that call either. Seems to me that mobile QB's get less protection from the officials than the strict pocket passers. Guys like Burrow, Rogers, and even Mahomes, that's a penalty. Guys that use their legs a lot seem like they get less sympathy from the officials. I don't know if that's really true or not, maybe it's just my perception.
I typically don't blame refs. But it was very clear they were against the Ravens through the first 3 weeks. Their was a post going around Twitter about blown calls against teams after 4 weeks, and the Ravens were at the top of the list by a lot. I think it's starting to even out now. Really haven't been robbed since the Dallas game.
The Hamilton play, if I remember right, he pushed him in the chest right after he released the ball. Nothing egregious, and the fact that Daniels weighs 150 lbs made it look worse. We literally see it happen to Jackson all the time with no flag. So you'll never find me feeling bad for an opposing QB getting the same treatment. I view that play by Hamilton the same as the hit by Chinn at the end of the game. Both were during the course of the play. You could argue either was maybe a little excessive and unnecessary. But I agree with no flag on both plays. It's football.
