I mean its a natural thing. Certain scripts or moments are obviously going to lead to tense or stressful moments regardless of whether there are 0 fans in a stadium or 100,000. But I look at a situation like the Phillies and Turner last year when he was struggling and they turned the jeers to cheers. He busted out. Maybe it was coincidence but I think it helps. Cheers. Support. Advocacy. All positives
I'm told this isn't true.

You and your 30,000 friends have the power to inspire. Go there and let the boys feel it from the jump.
If they give me a reason to cheer I will.

No, I agree with you. I'm just joking, because I said the same thing in another thread this morning and not everyone agreed.

Game 2. Season on the line. The Orioles lineup:
Henderson SS
Westburg 2B
Santander RF
Cowser LF
Rutschman C
O’Hearn DH
Mountcastle 1B
Mullins CF
UrÃas 3B
Eflin RHP
I would love to genuinely ask Elias and a supposed analytical FO why in the hell an exttemely low WPA unclutch guy like Cowser is hitting 4th. How can that make sense

Fangraphs doesn't think WPA is very predictive so Elias probably doesn't either.

Throw it out then. OHearn had a lot of good swings in NY and Minn. He doesnt strike out at anywhere near the rate of Cowser. Other things tells me to prefer OHearn

Mullins has been swinging well too. I might have shaken things up and put him back up top, Gunnar 3rd, then Tony on down but switch Adley and Mountcastle.

Still really overcast in the Inner Harbor, but looking out the window, people don't seem to be using umbrellas, so hopefully that's a good sign.
Also, I looked at weather.com, and at 6pm they have this round yellow thing kind of peeking out from behind the picture of a cloud. Anyone remember what that yellow thing is called?

My next question is is this def a FO decision. I will grant Weber and whoever else that I do believe the FO has a big influence on lineup construction generally speaking. But I cant be convinced that they are the ones filling out the lineup today. Maybe they are but I tend to believe this is Hydes call
No one can really know, but I would bet they talked quite a lot last night and this morning and it is mostly a consensus thing.

I genuinely dont like the lineup construction. Im fine with whos in it but for example Id much prefer Cowser trying to set the table for Gunnar, Westy,Tony, OHearn then trying to be the "cleanup" hitter. Id prefer Mullins in the 6 or 7 spot compared to 8th.

There are also awesome seats for cheaper prices for game 3. Those might get more expensive if the O's win today and tomorrow's weather is better (which it's supposed to be) so everyone keep that in mind.
I've got tickets for tomorrow. Was originally hoping they wouldn't be needed for a very different reason than I'm now terrified that they won't be needed. Shouldn't take much offense to get things done, might only need to find 3-4 runs. Let's get it done!

Should be the best lineup in baseball, that's 8 average to really good hitters plus Gunnar who's great. Obviously slumps - some long term, some situational - are reducing that but there is no reason this offense should be struggling as a group the way it has been. Cannot allow Lugo and KC to shut us down again. Just can't happen. Good at bats every at bat. That doesn't mean to choke up or do anything that isn't in their nature, but it does mean to use good pitch recognition and swing decisions. Identify breaking stuff, lay off of balls out of the hand and strike-to-balls when you can identify them. Get counts in your favor and then attack with violence if they throw a pitch in the right part of the zone. I don't think any change in approach is needed. I think its a change in focus. The mentality is good when used correctly, but when it gets sloppy its exploitable. Don't be sloppy. Can't be sloppy.

Cowser did pretty well when he was batting first for a bit, and while he K's a ton he's also more willing than most on the team to take a walk. I don't remember when or why that stopped.

Its all of it but yes focus and "locking in" is huge. You have to string together good ABs. I dont care who is out on the mound and how nasty his stuff is it doesnt excuse a hitter from checking out on an AB

This is why Westy is my fav player. Ben was talking yesterday about what he means to the team. The guy is a damn dog out there and we need more like him. 9 Westys in the lineup yesterday and we wouldve won. No doubt in my mind
