There are also times where yes you gotta protect the plate. There are also times, even in a playoff game, where I dont want my guy swinging at a pitch. Adley 9th inning perfect example. If he swings at that strike 3 he is beating that ball into the ground and it could easily be a DP ball.

Speaking of Adley, its clear his mechanics are out of whack. And Im not necessarily talking about swing plane. He needs a long rest and then a reset. This game can be so hard. He was hitting .300 right around the midpoint. We know hes capable of doing that for real stretches.

Lousy weather in the Inner Harbor right now.  65 and misting.  Hopefully it improves by this afternoon, or the game will be miserable.

Yep, I believe you stated much the same in the game thread. It was better to get the one out than to hit into a DP. That's all he would have done on that pitch. IIRC, Adley did foul off a couple of tough pitches during that AB.

He's a disaster at the plate right now.

He's collapsing that back leg big time.

I agree that he needs to clean up the mechanics of his swing. While He's at it, he needs to clean up his footwork on throws to second as well.

All that said, I think he bounces back strong next year. He's got too much ability not to.

I just have a good feeling about today. Note, that I also had a good feeling about yesterday. If Eflin and the pen are solid we win.

We need a run or two early to take the pressure off.   If we have no runs through 4 innings I'm worried they will just start flailing at anything and everything.

They try to pull and elevate everything. Regardless of pitch location. Launch angle and exit velo baby! You're not typically going to get the launch angle and exit velo you want (for HRs and deep line drives) on a ball that's a couple inches off the plate, or top / bottom edges (plus an inch or two) of the zone.

They can keep it up. Good luck to them. I hope it works. Hopefully they run in to pitchers and/or an ump that are forcing more meatballs in the zone. Otherwise nothing will change. They don't seem to care about things like hitting the ball the other way and would rather strike out trying to pull a ball low and away. Cuz at some point they'll make it work eventually. No approach adjustments.

Would really help. If they are chasing I agree they likely tighten up again and start feeling it.. Yesterday, I had the sinking feeling after the missed opportunites early. At some point around the 4th or 5th I started to think it was only gonna take 1 big hit and they were probably more likely to get it then we were

Too late! I’m up a LOT

And I sat out the last week of the year cuz I knew the Yankees didn’t care and the Twins had rolled over and died.

Kind of sucks that there are some pretty awesome seats on sale at Orioles.com for less than what I paid for my mediocre seats.  I wish there were an option to upgrade - I wouldn't even want a refund for the price difference.

I guess the lesson is that Wild Card games won't sell out, so you're better off not buying tickets until the last minute.

Yup. This is wild. I paid 3x for my seats for what they’re going for on Seat Geek.

I guess if this mostly screws over the scalpers I’m ok with it.

Its your right to lose money betting against them today but change the attitude. The players can feed off the tension/energy in the Yard

I'm told this isn't true.

There are also awesome seats for cheaper prices for game 3.  Those might get more expensive if the O's win today and tomorrow's weather is better (which it's supposed to be) so everyone keep that in mind.
