If KC has a lot of lefties in their pen, given the reverse splits of Ragans, I'd start out best lineup. Save the right bats for later.

Henderson SS

Westburg 2B

Santander RF

Mountcastle 1B

O'Hearn DH

Rutschman C

Cowser LF

Urias 3B

Mullins CF

Personally I'd start McCann in place of Adley but I'd get booed out of OPACY.

McCann has caught Burnes' last three starts, all of which have been very good. I doubt if they'll deviate from that now. Plus, McCann's been hitting, and he might have a better chance at slowing Kansas City's running game since Burnes seems to think that holding runners close is overrated.

Yeah I think McCann is a near lock to start. My guess without doing a batting order.

McCann
Mountcastle
Westburg
Henderson
Urias
Santander
Adley
Mullins
Cowser

Last two spots are CF and LF between Cowser, Mullins, and Slater. I could see him going with both Mullins and Cowser. Cowser has no ABs off him. Slater no ABs. Mullins is 0-0 with 2 BB.

Neither catcher has stood a chance with Burnes. McCann caught 2 of 17, Adley 4 of 30.

I would guess McCann starts though, given he catches Burnes so much and he's quite hot. Adley DHs.

I know Cowser and Mullins aren't so great against lefties, but Slater sucks vs both so if he starts I'll be pretty annoyed, especially given Ragans' splits.

ETA: maybe that was too strong, as Slater has been good against LHP in the past, and Mullins has been just dreadful vs. LHP this year. Against a regular lefty maybe I sit Mullins, against a reverse lefty I probably play him.

McCann has to start. I wonder if they need a 3rd catcher though in case of injury so they don't lose the DH.

Nah. I doubt it. If a player goes down in the series they can replace him. Granted, youd be down in that particular game but not for the whole series

Nope, they don't.  Deeper bench so you can PH multiple times through the order if you have to.  Also hard to imagine what type of injury would force McCann from a playoff game.

Yeah, if a 95mph fastball to the face in a random July game isn't enough...

Ok so McCann starts. Then why does Adley have to play? He has a September OPS of .578. O'Hearn's is .691.

He hits lefties well and he has good numbers vs Ragans. O Hearn has been hot of late but you start Adley

I'd rather start Adley and O'Hearn than McCann and O'Hearn or Adley and McCann. Burnes' preference for who he throws to would be a factor, and if he says McCann is his choice behind the plate, I think I'd go with Adley at DH but no argument with anyone who'd pick O'Hearn as the reverse splits and recent performance all support that idea.

Its still possible they do that but I expect McCann to start. He seems to work better with Burnes and has a stronger arm.

I'd almost rather go with Rivera at DH than Adley at this point. Over 26 games with the Orioles (of which he's played in 17, I believe), Rivera's slash line is .323/.380/.597.

Pass. I know what the recent performances are, but I'll roll with Adley over Rivera. O'Hearn is debatable since he's a more proven hitter.

Lots of tickets in the $40s on seat geek, I suppose due to the weather. I might have to try to rearrange things tomorrow.

Looks like the game may not start on time, did I read it may not be a sell out? That can’t be the case right? I’m down if FL but if I was in MD I would be there for sure!

Afternoon showers then clearing later according to Weather Underground. Would like to see a bit of a delay hack to 6 or 7.

Hell, I'd just like the chance to cut my grass. Maybe I can get it in if the game is pushed back.

I'm so sick of this god damn rain.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

From what I'm seeing on the good old weather.com, it looks like it will probably be fine by game time.
