He’s done it twice. Beat Syracuse in 2019, and N.C. State in 2022.

I'll give them Syracuse, but they ended up being pretty bad that year. I can't count a bowl game where the other team was missing significant players.

Locksley has the job until he no longer wants the job. I can't imagine anything (besides something catastrophic like Durkin) getting him fired.

The school obviously cares very little about football or athletics in general.

The interwebs suggest he is 2-26 vs ranked teams in his career. Might be the worst record of all current D1 football coaches? I'm assuming with some "minimum number of games", there has to be someone out there that's like 0-3 or something.

0-2 now in conference. They'll probably be VERY lucky to get 3 conference wins. Wouldn't be surprised at 2 or less. 2-2 vs D1 and UConn barely qualifies as a D1 right now.

I dunno. I get it, Big 10 is hard, etc etc. That stadium was pretty friggin' empty vs MSU. 2-26 vs ranked teams will do that. 2-29ish by the end of this season. But Evans and Locksley will be on radio this week hinting that the team needs more fans to show up. YOU (Terps) have to do something to give people a reason to show up. The prospect of DC traffic and ingress/egress to that campus with basically zero hope that your time and money will see a Terps win is not all that appealing.

The Locksley obsession around Maryland is weird. I guess because he said it's his dream job. With the state of the program, most fans are content with 6-7 mostly meaningless wins and a mediocre bowl appearance. Fan apathy seems to be on a sharp incline judging by attendance numbers at Byrd.

Locksley is doing things at Maryland that have either never been done, or haven’t been done in decades. He’s earned the right to have an off-year (and his contract is such that he’s obviously not going anywhere for at least a few more years).

If what we’re seeing this year becomes the new reality instead of a blip, then it’s a different conversation.

Wait I figured it out. Of all the MD coaches that were here for 5+ years hes the only one to never have a season with a .500 conference record. Even Dufner and Edsall managed at least one .500 conference season. Locks doing things that have never been done indeed
