Yeah it doesn't really matter I guess since both are do or die, but Eflin is on plenty of rest and I trust him more to get through 6 and keep the bullpen intact for tomorrow. If you have to empty the BP tomorrow at least you have an off day after.
If we advance, I imagine Burnes is locked into game 2 (he's never done 3 days rest) and today would also give Eflin an extra day for game 3, who knows how his shoulder feels but maybe he could use it.

Efflin is the 2nd best starter remaining, not sure why they were being so coy about today's starter. Win today then you can worry about tomorrow.

It's beyond stupid that Suarez pitched so much on Sunday as to be left off the roster. No way I want Kremer pitching after what happened last year. I am NOT dissing on Dean it was and is a horrible situation. But he looked mentally out of it last year. He should be sitting out this week. And aside from that I'd rather have Suarez pitching anyway.
They're saving Suarez for game 1 of the ALDS, which is why he pitched so much on Sunday. They were always going to hold back either Suarez or Kremer for game 1, but it doesn't seem like you'd be happy with Kremer in that game, either.

Agree Suarez should be on the roster instead of Povich. But absolutely disagree that Suarez would start over Kremer.

I think Kremer is the clear #3 here. I also think Nigel is right that Suarez was probably always slated for ALDS game 1 unless they were able to win both without using Eflin. Sure you have to get there. But assuming Povich is the mop up guy, I don't think having a slightly better mop up guy makes much difference in advancing.

Extra innings aren't mop-up. Games can go very deep without the ghost runner. Could easily need someone to cover 3 innings, especially if your starter exits at the first sign of trouble the second time through, which is what will happen.

And that's a mistake, IMO. Will only be meaningful if a SP has to leave early or if a game goes deep into extras. But those possibilities are real and I'd much rather see Suarez pitch in those cases than Povich. It's bad roster management, but hopefully won't be a factor so they can get away with it.

Sure, maybe I can get behind that it's a mistake to not have him on the roster at all. I'm not sure how often 12 pitchers are used in 3 games, but it's probably true that the last guy is only used in rare emergencies like long extra innings. I don't think it's a mistake to really want to hold him back for game 1, if you think that gives you the best chance of winning the next series. The chance of making the DS is probably higher than the chance of the 12th guy being needed in the WC, but you want that option if you need it. I don't know why he had to pitch Sunday and remove any chance of being available.
Povich was also a whole lot better than Suarez in September, which is a small sample but might have influenced it. They might be happy going to him in extras, but prefer Suarez in game 1 in NY.

Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah, is Kremer even an option if we force a game 3?

I think Players generally play on Rosh Hashana but sit out on Yom Kippur (which starts on 10/11 and if the O's go with a 4-man rotation I think Kremer would be slated to start on 10/10) so hopefully we can avoid a Tamir Goodman situation. Kremer likely couldn't pitch on 10/12.

Yes, already been discussed. He pitched on Rosh Hashanah last year.

Don't worry, I don't think any Orioles will be pitching on the 12th!

You're saying we will beat the Yankees in 4, yes?
