That was the issue? Doesn’t seem like the sort of thing the organization would allow to stand in the way of a potentially beneficial outcome. Did he want to be paid like a head coach?

I have no idea about that.  Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't recall any detail of the Rosburg deal / sudden no deal ever really coming out?  If it was close enough to happening I find it hard to believe either side would have leaked it without ANY idea of whether the dollars were going to work.  But who knows...

The information was per insiders associated with the team.  Things get leaked all the time, but stories are also fabricated due to poor journalism.  I can only go by what I hear and that was the reason given.  I was just trying to find the story from last Spring but wasn't successful.

My feelings on Harbaugh have gone back and forth. My initial impression of him was quite negative. His rah-rah, high school coach type attitude struck me as disingenuous and it rubbed me the wrong way. Over time though, it was hard to argue with success. Plus, it seemed like his teams always played hard. As a result, I was able to rationalize the in-game struggles and time management issues. Especially considering most head coaches struggle with these issues.

However, despite our success in the Lamar era, I've found my feelings on Harbaugh drifting back to my first impressions of him. His arrogance is almost always on display and his utter disdain towards the media and fans has grown intolerable. He acts as if no one besides an NFL coach could possibly have any football knowledge of worth.

I think thats a big reason why some people dont like him. There is no doubt he is often an arrogant prick. My biggest concern, and its really not a huge one, is he may actually be losing some of his edge. That Harbaugh edge is what makes both really good coaches.

Yeah, his arrogance has always bothered me too.  And like you, I never bought into his phony, pro-military, prayer book mentality.  He's on his best behavior after wins but the real asshole side of him always surfaces after a loss.  But as you said, it's hard to argue with the overall, regular season record he's put up over the years.  You're still only as good as your players and Lamar probably saved his job back in 2018 but he does consistently lead them into the post season.  As 2035 said, maybe we've become a bit spoiled over the years and forget how fast everything can go south.  There's plenty of organizations around the NFL that would sever a limb to have the kind of success the Ravens have had year in and year out.  If Harbaugh was to get fired, then what?  Who replaces him?  And then a new coach would want his own staff so you could kiss pretty much all the coordinators and coaches good-bye.  How would that effect the players, especially their most important one?  I'm sure Bisciotti has asked himself those questions down through the years and probably plays a big role in wanting stability and to keep bringing back Harbs.

Maybe in a couple years he steps aside. Meanwhile his brother wears out his welcome in LA and we can replace Harbs with Harbs. Maybe even get Roman back!

Hopefully in Dallas he won't defer to the crowd as to whether something should be challenged.

Don't they have someone in the booth for that decision?

Think he is the 2nd oldest coach in the league.
It's why we discussed last year that maybe they should have been making MacDonald for 24 and bumping Harbaugh upstairs.

I don't think the game has passed him buy.
Wouldn't worry that messaging is stale (roster turns over too quickly).

He has the same positives and issues as always.
More positives than negatives.
Generally I'd lean towards letting him decide when he leaves, unless they team face plants.

What would you say his positives are?

Any HC / Manager in 2024 has to be an effective communicator. Able to deal with the team, coaching staff, management, and the press.

Keep issues within the building without burying others in the press.

I think the Ravens have the 3rd highest winning percentage of any franchise. That percentage is higher under Harbaugh.

Are you an effective leader of men?
Do your teams play hard for you?

Are you typically disciplined?

With everything here, I could pick at Harbaugh...but you don't have the overall organizational success the Ravens have had, if he was more of a detriment vs strength.
