They were all good before July.
Eh. Definitely better than they are now.
Hard hit, exit velocity, barrel percentage have been poor his entire career thus far. He just doesn't hit the ball hard consistently.

Yeah but then we would’ve already had a SS when Gunnar came up and then traded him for Rich Hill.He might end up being worse than Wieters. Unfathomable.
We could have had WITT!

Unbelievable how bad our offense had been. 2 guys on and Adley, Jimenez and Santander can't even put the ball in play.
Adley, too.

Because he's not a masher. High average and high OBP with 20 homer pop is what I think is his ideal. The upper it swing from the left side this year seems to be hunting for homers, but I don't think that's a great plan for him, although it did work well for the first half.Eh. Definitely better than they are now.

We probably wouldn't have drafted a HS SS in the 2nd if we drafted a HS SS in the 1st.

Yes, I said exactly that. I lean another direction but it's a reasonable theory that scouts figured out a way to attack him and Adley hasn't adjusted. Seems unlikely to me but can't rule it out.
To me this has gone on long enough that there are only 2 explanations.
1. He's hurt. Now I am not buying that. I see no evidence of any issue body wise causing him to be so poor. No telltale signs like grimacing or extra stretching movements to limber up at the plate.
2. They have figured him out. I am just about 100% in this camp.

They drafted Norby, Gunnar, Jackson and Westburg all within a couple years of one another.
We probably wouldn't have drafted a HS SS in the 2nd if we drafted a HS SS in the 1st.

Why? I have argued similar things in the past and have gotten shot down repeatedly. You draft the BPA.

Eh. Stockpile talent. They took a HS SS in the 2nd. Then a college SS in the 4th and another HS SS in the 5th.

I'm hoping that we can at least hold on to the no. 1 wildcard and get a home playoff series.
Yeah at least fans can pack the stadium and watch them flame out....lol

So what's the cause for Julio Rodriguez or Corbin Carroll? Those guys been figured out?To me this has gone on long enough that there are only 2 explanations.

Can't just a bad year, or half year on this case, be the most plausible explanation. Certainly can be some reasons for the struggles than can be fixed, but bad years happen. Consistency is rare. I don't doubt the future very much for any of these young guys having disappointing 2024 seasons.

I was thinking the same thing but I didn't want to say it.

He had a .810 OPS for his first 350 career games. You don't just do that for two years if you aren't very good.
Either something is wrong with him, or this is just a bad approach for him in particular that they haven't been able to adjust away from once the league found something. If he's not hurt the lack of adjustment is pretty damning for him and/or the hitting coaches

Touche. My thinking was their emphasis on college is clear, even if not absolute. Felt that Elias in his first draft wouldn't go all in on the HS risk, but who knows.

Fair enough. Even HOF’ers have down years. It’s hard not to zoom too far in sometimes. So what's the cause for Julio Rodriguez or Corbin Carroll? Those guys been figured out?
