Man, Holliday being 20 and Cowser being much better this year after being horrible last year gives me hope. That said, the strikeouts in the show are concerning. Is Holliday really gonna strike out 25% of the time in the show. His swing and miss is just nothing that showed in his monor league profile

It’s what they do. He hit 2 double play balls that AB. One was just barely foul. Friday was nice but he shouldn’t be playing 2 games in a series. What a joke.
Damn it. Needed more. Brutal DP

Currently 36%. Tries to crush every single swing he makes. No discernment. No discipline whatsoever. Just trying to tat everything. Wish we had more professional hitters on this team.

Its just shocking. I get that MLB is a big step up but its just nothing that ever showed in his minor league profile. Unlike say Cowser who did strike out a lot coming up

Had a chance to put up a crooked number in the first. Now it feels like this bum has settled in and it will be a grind

Look at Chourio....32% in his first 100+ PA to start this year after 18-22% in the upper minors then has figured it out and now he's under 17% since May began. Its just shocking. I get that MLB is a big step up but its just nothing that ever showed in his minor league profile. Unlike say Cowser who did strike out a lot coming up
Holliday is approaching 150 PA so time to start adjusting, but slow starts happen. And this second call up he's managed to be moderately productive despite the Ks. Not completely overmatched like his first weeks. I don't know what his whiff rates were in the minors, but my guess would be he's struggling with swing decisions here. Stuff wasn't as good at AAA and below so he knew when to spit on a close pitch. He hasn't figured that out yet with the better competition.

Yeah appproach has to get better
The approach our HC’s are preaching doesn’t bode well. They don’t want discipline. They are teaching them to sell out for power. One example of how analytics is having a negative influence on the game.

Discipline and selling out for power aren't mutually exclusive. We always hear about "swing decisions". I haven't heard much directly from the coaches, but to me that sounds like being aggressive when you get a good pitch to drive and taking others. I have little issue with always swiging hard when you do swing as long as you're discriminant about when to swing and when not to. Some few scenarios where contact is more important than damage, can't have the same approach 100% of the time, but I don't think it's an inherently flawed strategy. Also gotta be individualized. Holliday and Mullins and Rutshcman shouldn't have the exact same instruction as Mountcastle and Henderson and Santander.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."

I’ll allow it. Great post.
