It was good to see them bang out 11 hits and score 5 runs.  It's doing it for more than a game or two that's been the problem.  And man, Gunnar has been falling from the sky with alarming speed over the past month.  He's hitting .180 over the past 34 games.

He hit 295 for the first 23 of those games. It's just been the last week and a half that he's almost gone hitless. 5/42 since the Mets series began.

I might wait until Chicago, but would like to see an off day for him soon and two or three more in September.

I'd try to give Gunner and Adley as much time off as I can in the last month. The only explanation for their struggles has to be mental and physical fatigue. We aren't gonna do much in the playoffs if those 2 aren't playing well.

I would give Gunnar an All-Star version break that he never got.  I'd give him tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday off and have him comeback on the final game against the White Sox.  If they can't beat Chicago without Gunnar, they've got deeper problems than originally imagined.  Of course, this will never happen, but I really do think that's what he needs.

Gunnar's OPS has been in a decline since late June where it peaked at 1.005.

If Cowser decided to come up short on that flop shot, you would've ridiculed him for changing the outlook of the inning.
