Happy opening day everyone.

I'm oddly zen about tonight. I think my expectations for the early going are super low, as I believe the growth and development of the Oline will be painful at times; along with Zach Orr getting his sea legs under him as DC. September football is generally sloppy and the epitome of "survive and advance" but I think those struggles are going to more prevalent for us than usual.

With that said, the weirdness that is September football certainly affords us a great opportunity this evening. Also, Lamar Jackson is 12-1-1 in his career as a road underdog against the spread. So let's see what happens.

I think it won't be a close game. Not sure who wins, probably 52/48 Chiefs, but think someone runs away by more than a score.

Thinking Ravens win in control of the game or KC wins close.

Tired of hearing about a rematch.

New year.

Ravens winning tonight in September doesn't erase losing the AFC Championship at home.

Ravens losing tonight, doesn't erase what the Ravens can accomplish this year.

Just a week 1 game vs a good team.
Basics all at play... turnovers, red zone, 3rd down.

Hopefully the Ravens are focused each week on earning their way back to the playoffs.

I've got a Ravens vs SF SB.

Let's go Ravens!

Get a lead and then feed Henry.
Make KC cry trying to tackle him in the 4th.

Biggest aspect to this game is a win would give them head to head (barring odd 3+ team ties) advantage for playoff seedings.  And despite their failure in January last season, I would still rather have a home game in that situation.

Ravens could win but I have no reason to think they wil find a way to win. The only win Lamar has over Mahomes was when Oweh forced a fumble late and deep in Ravens territory when KC was about to kick a game winning FG. Have a 3 unit bet on the Chiefs moneyline. It is what it is. I'll still be rooting for them to prove me wrong

3 losses besides the AFCCG. One was kind of a blowout. One they lost by 5 while missing three 2 point conversions. One they lost because Mahomes did a circus 4th down play that even he probably only does like 1 in 10 times. Sure the Chiefs have dominated this tiny sample, but I think that's overblown. Regardless, games from 2018 or 2019 mean literally nothing tonight.

Not totally. I think the Chiefs are in the Ravens head a bit.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking KC wins 28-24.

I don't want to fall behind, but I'm very curious to see what they do if they do fall behind. Ravens have been great front runners, but they do tend to panic a bit bit (to put it mildly) on the field and in the coaching booth when they fall behind. Certainly are examples of smart, confident play to come back and take control of a game they're trailing (Titans game in 2020 playoffs an example), but the examples of abandoning the run and taking big 4th down risks before it was necessary stick out in the memory.

It's hard to win in the other guys house when you are talking about good teams.  Detroit did it to KC last year, but KC basically gave them the game with all of the drops they had, and a 50 yard pick six.  Even with all of that, it was still only a 1 point game.  KC was uncharacteristically bad at home last year, losing 4 out of 8 in KC.  Made it a hard road in the playoffs.  They want to change that.  If you believe the hype, they seem more focused this year for a three-peat than they were last year.

Ravens certainly can win.  If this game were game 2 and a home opener in Baltimore I would pick them.  But it's not and I don't think KC wants a repeat of last year.  KC didn't have Chris Jones in last years opener, and Kelce was limited with an injury.  That's not the case this year.  Chris Jones could blow up the Ravens offensive line.  I think it will be competitive, but I think KC finds a way to pull away a little in the 4th.

That part could be true. I do think getting the one win against them helped that though.

Doesn't it say something though that when Lamar throws too much, the team tends to lose?

He's not a bad thrower of the football, but he's not a great one either. There's a reason every team's defensive strategy against the Ravens is "make Lamar beat you with his arm." On top of that, in the playoffs he has literally had to try to win the game with his arm, and his success rate is terrible.

That's what happens when the OC doesn't use the running game. Lamar is not Tom Brady. The strength of his game is when defenses don't know what he's going to do with the ball

I'd be good with a season where every game was Sunday at 1.

It has now been two different OCs and like 3 different occasions. At some point it's just what he does and who he is.

Amen to that. Unfortunately, the night games go hand in hand with being a Super Bowl, contending team every year. And when your quarterback is named Lamar Jackson.
