Find some way to eek out a W today and head home for a really tough series against Houston.

Its hard to see a path with Irvin on the mound

Manaea has had a pretty good season. Going to be a tough one. I think Irvin will have a surprisingly decent day.

is it possible for the bats to show up 2 days in a row?

Since June 20 that bats have scored 5 + runs 14 times. And never more than 2 games in a row. That's frankly pathetic.

The inconsistency is maddening, but I'm not sure its really controllable or indicative of approach or any weakness.  And they're still 4th in MLB in runs scored since that date.  They've played more games than most teams, probably about 8th in runs per game.

I know I've read analysis that showed there isn't any benefit to consistency versus volatility on a individual basis.  I.e. being a steady producer isn't better or worse than being a streaky hitter as long as the overall numbers are equal.  I don't recall reading anything about if teams with large standard deviations have a harder time winning than ones that score more consistently.

I just tuned in but the Mets announcers called out Ramon on that one.

Palmer basically said Ramon was taking his sweet time. But no harm in the end. It's just little things like that that drive me crazy. Not like it was late in the game and your focus wants. First freaking batter.

A leadoff 4-pitch walk from Irvin. What could possibly go wrong?

That's as free of an out on the bases as you'll ever see.  What a terrible decision by Alonso, right in front of him.

Back to the bench.

There were rumors of Manaea to Baltimore in the past. Would like to have him now.

You have to score one to win anyway.

Now they have to score two.

This offense ain't doing much against Manaea. Just keep it close and get to their BP.
