Soto was the biggest issue though. Not only blew the lead but took us out of the game. Just atrocious.

I'm not as down on Hyde as some are (most MLB mgrs handle their BP arms crappy anyway), but I would've let Jackson hit with the bases loaded and nobody out, I would've brought Mayo in to PH for Urias, and Slater for Cowser (if Cowser is in fact hurt).

Gotta say, with these injuries it is just starting to feel like this just isn't going to be our year.

There was no reason to bring him I'm in the first place.

He was the player of the game had we won. Huge effort with zero notice basically. Was still warming in the top of the 1st when the O’s were batting (and going down 1-2-3 for that matter, ugh).

Hyde shut down our biggest rally of the game by over-managing and what he did with the bullpen tonight was brutal. Hyde was not good tonight.

Hyde said he was looking for the big inning by bringing on Slater over Holliday, and then Mayo over Cowser, but it didn't work out.

Slater over Holliday was stupid. Mayo over Cowser is as stupid IF Cowser wasn't hurt. He didn't mention anything about that though.

So yeah, before we even get to his use of the BP, Hyde gets an F tonight.

That definitely sounds like the message the baseball gods are sending.

I looked it up, and it was in fact a Grade 2 lat strain Grayson suffered in 2022. He went exactly three months between starts (June 1 and his first rehab start was Sept 1). Hopefully it’s not as serious this time, but I’m fully expecting his season to be over.

Another game they went down big and couldn't fight back. Haven't had any fight like that all year.

They went down 4 in the 6th. This isnt a case to bitch about rolling over.  They did give themselves a chance in the 8th.

Still cant believe they put up a 5 spot with 2 outs in the 6th. Just horrible from Soto.

Did you even watch the game? Suarez with an emergency spot start pitches five scoreless, Action Jackson with a solo shot being the game's only run into the bot 6...And then Hyde took over.

Soto is simply not a plug-and-play guy. He absolutely has not warranted that type of usage despite him being the only LH arm Elias added at TDL. You know my thoughts on Kimbrel being the arm I would've called upon, but I would've left Burch in to figure it out than bring in a guy with a gasoline nozzle for a pitcher's arm. (o;

And then it seemed like Hyde wanted to correct his decisions from earlier by wonking the 8th inning. Why would you take Holliday out of the game? Who wants to face that kid with the bases loaded there? The fact Slater worked a walk shouldn't absolve Hyde from his decision one iota. If he gets Holliday to ground out or a SAC fly to bring in a run, do you leave Urias in, cuz at this point, I'm left to assume Cowser's healthy. The only way I leave Urias in to hit is if it's 5-4 with nobody out. His D is needed, there's likely a runner in scoring position, and all he has to do is put it down the first baseline. Then you have Cowser.

I know there are those here who can rattle off several worse games Hyde has tinker/tailor/spied to death, but this one is way up the list for me.

He def overmanages. What more needs to be said than that. We can pick apart the details but  the cliffnotes will do.

Hang on - mic back on.

If they don't pinch hit Action Jackson - he walks too. If Urias hits, he strikes out (because he sucks v LHP). Cowser walks. Two runs in. One out, bases loaded with Santander up.

A BP move is perhaps made with Gunnar on deck.

I'm going to stew on this some more. Mind is a mile a minute anyway.

I woulda let Holliday hit but again not hitting for Urias to me is beyond baffling. He made all 3 decisions he made completely based on lefty righty matchups. Did he even look at Caberas numbers. Did he know Urias was a reverse splits guy. Like you'd think he knows all that but it truly makes me wonder. Urias was the guy you def 100% PH for of those 3 and he was the one he let hit. Its just insane.

You lose a clubhouse with that sort of idiocy.

Who's gonna flip over the buffet though? (or really at this point, who flipped it over)

I heard Grayson was throwing up in the bullpen before the game. Hopefully it's just a bug and not another injury.
