Basing coaching decisions off recruits and transfers is putting the cart before the horse. But having talent assures you are at least a bottom-tier power conference team vs a program that struggles to compete with FCS teams. And for any of the decision makers out there who somehow still aren’t sure, it’s yet another data point that shows getting talented players to come to MD is not the problem.

Looks like all but three of their commitments have signed their NLI as of now. One of those three is Elee. Hope this doesn't end up being a dragged out affair with him.

He's signing as part of a 16-player event at St. Frances Academy at 1:00 PM ET.

3-star DL Jamarcus Whyce (Dayton, OH) has flipped his commitment from Purdue to Maryland. He's currently ranked as the 58th-best defensive lineman in the country, and the 27th-best player from the state of Ohio. He had additional offers from Indiana, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, among others.

Maryland finished the first day of the Early Signing Period with the #41 class in the country, which comes in at #10 in the conference just behind Indiana.

The Testudo Times guys who follow this way more closely than I do seem to think it's a pretty good class. Overall ranking is a bit low only because it's a relatively small class.
There is certainly talent in CP.

If you base the ranking on the average rating for each player, which doesn’t weight the rankings for number of guys signed, MD ranks #27 overall.
They also had 13 players on this year’s team that made some sort of All-Big Ten team. Talent, or lack thereof, ain’t the problem.

Unranked LS Rory Knipp (Pittsburgh, PA) has committed to Maryland. He's ranked as a 5-star snapper by Kohl's Kicking, who rank him as the 14th-best snapper in the country. He held additional offers from Buffalo and Temple.

Unranked K Eli Fulcher (Winston-Salem, NC) has committed to Maryland. He'll likely compete for kickoff specialist duties next season.

Unranked OL Teagan Cox (Lusby, MD) has committed to Maryland. He's a late addition to the incoming freshman class, and played his high school football at Patuxent.
