I think it's likely he'll return to the majors. Plenty of examples of guys in their 30s having it and returning. His previous time missed wasn't due to the elbow and he did return in between, so it won't be a particularly unique absence.

I don't think he makes tons of sense for the O's to pay for his rehab next year and try to get a 2028 option or something like that. But it'll make good sense for somebody.

How many guys have come back from back surgery and TJS? Perhaps they are not related at all. I don't want to be the team to find out they are.

I don't see why they'd be related. He's already recovered from the back surgery. It's a different body part so don't need to track it like the guys who have a second Tommy John, which is much lower odds of recovery than the first (though more examples are occurring recently, going back to Eovaldi).

It is hard to see how they could be related.  Pitchers get hurt.  Take a look around, it is happening all over baseball, not just in Baltimore.

I truly believe it is the max effort, max spin on every pitch approach that is causing all the injuries.

I think its pretty easy to see a correlation between arm/shoulder/back injuries especially for pitchers. Maybe there isn't? But at the end of the day it wouldn't impact my wanting to bring him back anyway. No matter how you want to look at it that is two major surgeries in less than 8 months. Thats just a red flag for me.
