I don't think anybody would ever want Povich. He's the kind of guy you take a flyer on if he hits waivers, but nobody is giving up assets for him.
This is a terrible take. He's a flawed BOR LHP that has shown flashes of upside with an option year and 5 years of control remaining at 25 years old.

If he signs with the WS I believe its because they offered a good bit more than anyone else. We will know by Friday
I think he gets something like 6/135 and I hope its from us.

He had -0.2 WAR last year and -0.6 for his career. He's worse than "flawed." He has, to this point, been worse than replacement level. If he were released tomorrow someone would pick him up, but nobody is trading anything of value for a guy who has, thus far in his career, been worse than JAG level.

Povich, without diving too deep, feels like a guy who will need to pare down his 5 pitch arsenal to improve his control (and land as a solid middle relief option). Everybody has that guy in their system. Bonus points though for being a lefty.

I saw an interview with Eflin. In case anyone hasn't seen it, he said he's on pace with his rehab, and as it stands today, he expects to be ready for the start of the season.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

I know Povich has been inconsistent, but he's only 24 and has shown flashes.
This is just an anecdotal comment, because I haven't looked into it. But it seems like Povich only shows flashes against terrible teams.

I like him around as a 7th or 8th starting option.
Id be looking to include him with Mayo and actual prospects for a starter, if the Os dont add a FA starter.
He certainly wouldn't be a major piece in a trade, but as a 4th or 5th piece, he would bring some value.

Nobody bats 1.000. They got it wrong.Povich has the 11th highest trade value in the organization according to BTV.
He has two (partial) seasons showing him to be below replacement level. He couldn't break through and stick in the rotation last year when they were one of the worst in the sport.
That doesn't mean he can't get better, but nobody is going to trade for him as though he already has.

He can be a piece in a deal. Finesse lefties usually take time to develop. Someone may see value in Povich.

He has value, but nobody is making Povich the centerpiece of their return for a bankable asset.

At this point I think the question with Eflin is not can he get back but moreso how will his back (and things tied to that like shoulder) handle taking the ball every 5 days? IF he can hold together for the season then that will be a huge plus.

I think it makes sense to go slow with Eflin. He's about two weeks behind everyone else. If things went smoothly and we needed him, I'm sure he could be ready for his first turn through the rotation, but if everyone else remains healthy I think it makes sense to give him a couple weeks on the IL and continue ramping up in extended ST or make a couple starts in Norfolk.

Is starting in Norfolk better for him physically than starting in Baltimore? I can see the ramping up and perhaps by starting in Norfolk you don't need him to go 5 innings like you would need for the O's?

Yeah my thinking is it would just replace the last two or three starts he would normally have made in Spring if he started on time. Not an extended stay, just a week or two.
I don't love the 6-man rotation idea as a long-term solution, but its especially problematic with 3 days off in the first 15 days of the season. I'd stick with 5 guys for the first 3 turns and then bring up Eflin after April 10th. At that point I decide if we go 6 man or put someone in the pen. Hopefully no injuries but that's another option.
