Poor decision by new HC Hackett last night.   You make a big trade and give up a lot to get a franchise QB in Russell Wilson then decide not to put the ball in his hands on 4th and 5 with the game on the line, opting instead to try a 64 yard FG.  Miss, game over.

I'm not sure what Wilson's beef was in Seattle, but that's what he gets for moving on from Pete Carrol to this rookie head coach.

Anyone else see his quote after the game? Seemed like he was completely embarassed by the decision and just didn't know what to do. One of the worst coaching debuts I can remember.

Nathaniel Hackett has been fired. Former Ravens ST coordinator Jerry Rosburg has been named interim.

Hackett is now the fifth coach since the merger to not make it through his first season.

 

That horrible Russell Wilson contract is going to hamstring whoever is named the permanent head coach.

The irony is that Hackett's tenure seemed doomed right from the get-go in Seattle, when he elected to try a 64-yard FG instead of giving Russell Wilson a chance to win it in the final minute....which in retrospect looks like it might have been a wise choice.

Here's the list, which also includes two more guys who never even made it to their first regular season game. Not sure anyone will ever top Belichick's one-day tenure as head coach of the Jets.
