You're publishing before the deadline and the 15 minute grace period where last minute trades break?

Praying this is the reverse jinx we all need right now.

I ended saying there was 90 minutes left, and I'd love to be surprised.
If I am, great.
Part of why I'm not expecting more, is that I would have thought Norby would be part of any larger deal.

Might have been uninspiring overall, but can't say they didn't do much.

Quantity over quality. Low risk with potential high rewards. Still pretty bleh but I am over it.

It helps that they won tonight. And the defense looked competent....that was the most encouraging part.

That's pretty much where I'm at on it.

I think uninspiring is the right word. We're looking for something that sets up the Playoffs this year and 2025 and we didn't get that. Modest adds at a fairly steep cost. We used top 15 guys and didn't add any projectable impact.
I don't think the late activity does anything other than look like late activity.
They needed to add some starting pitching and they did. They needed to surround GRod in the rotation and they surrounded Kremer instead. Made my comments on Rogers in the other thread, we want to fix him but we wanted to fix Irvin and Povich too. I hope this turns out better than the label today. It certainly can, but in both deals we overpay for the floor of what we should be doing.
I guess GSoto makes the bullpen move. We got 2 guys from the back of the Phillies bullpen and the Phillies wanted to improve their bullpen....and those guys are our improvement. Hopefully Suarez helps out also. I'd rather be the team trading these type guys and bringing up younger quality arms to the pen and we just haven't seen it yet so we're trading for these guys instead.. Soto was pretty good in DET 2 years ago and hasn't fared as well in Philly so maybe he finds something.
With Eflin, Rogers and Dominguez (Hays out), nobody thought we were doing good.
Then Soto seems like a fairly significant pay (I liked him better than any of the guys around him as a starter)...
...but I don't understand Eloy Jiminez. He's not playing LF, right? He doesn't play defense and he's one of the slower guys around. From 1B/DH....who is he taking ABs from? If he's playing, he's taking them from somebody. Is he just here to PH?
Livan Soto and Slater are meaningless, right? Why? It shows up in tracking as something, but this is zero impact.

I'll give the deadline a C.
They did the minimum in terms of reinforcing the roster. Eflin, Rogers, Dominguez and Soto need to perform. Super late moves seem more panicky like the Flaherty deal last year. Like someone told them they needed to make some more moves.
I don't specifically care about the cost. Good for Hays and Stowers and Norby to find more opportunity....but we are flushing value down the toilet with the approach. Maintaining the system should be about leveraging value everywhere, not turning dollars into change.

You dont have a clue what you are talking about.

Has anyone figured out the point to the Slater/Soto trade?
Slater looks worse than Pache, and I'd think one of them has to go.
They apparently are head-over-heels in love with Soto for some reason since this is the third time this year they've acquired him, and since he's already in the minors they don't have to try to pass him through waivers this time. Is Soto so great that they had to take Slater back in order to get Soto for the equivalent of pocket lint?

Slater historically hits lefties well and is a solid defensive corner OF unlike Jimenez. They must think he is an upgrade on Pache.Has anyone figured out the point to the Slater/Soto trade?
