The SS controls that situation. If he calls for it, it's on the 3B to GTFO of the way. That's baseball 101.
ETA - I'm not convinced Gunnar called him off.

The way this offense is struggling, the last thing they can afford is two gift runs with shoddy defense. I know Hyde isn't the type but if they lose this game, maybe it's time for a thorough chewing out in the clubhouse. Wally Backman, where are you?

Gunnar has a bad tendency of drifting too far onto the 2B side and too far into the 3B side.

I was taught in that situation that it's the LFers job to call who should take it.
