Losing Hays doesn't bother me much, but I'm not sure they got anyone that should even be on the team going forward, at least not if the pen were to properly be addressed.

Dominguez is not optionable and a FA at the end of the season, so that's pretty crappy.

Maybe Dominguez has whatever traits they think they can do stuff with. He was reasonable two years ago.

This feels like the Orioles came up on the short end because they moved one useless player but had to take back two useless players from PHI.

Beyond that, the negativity in this thread was pretty jarring for me. Dominguez is worth a shot.

Dominguez also has negative WAR, and the damage a bad relief pitcher can do far outscales the damage a mediocre outfielder can do when they play.Getting Hays off this team is a massive win. Up until recently he had a negative WAR. .2 bref now. You ain’t getting much for that.

IMO this is the type of trade that makes sense after the other shoe drops (second trade).

If any of the subsequent trades involve Pache getting any regular playing time, those trades are major mistakes.

A right-handed-hitting CF has been a pretty glaring need... although it would have been nice to get one who could hit.
Career 698 OPS against LHP, though, which is actually decent, although the sample sizes are small. Career 369 OPS against RHP. 662 vs 336 this year. He hit a double off of Vespi back in June.

He seems to have a 8M team option, 500k buyout. Would take a massive turnaround to take it, but I suppose possible.

This, it's addition by subtraction.

I don’t post much these days, and swatting down nonsense like this is why. Cheers y’all.

Not sure how literally anything I posted is controversial or hyperbolic.

My first thought is that it makes me think Kjerstad isn't going anywhere.
I've always liked Hays... but trade is fine imo. Dominguez has a lot of red on his Savant.
He could be better than multiple existing options.
He's obviously not enough for the pen though.
Still need one high leverage arm at the minimum, and agree with general consensus.. would like to see two other pen additions.

Ditch one piece we don't need and add two pieces we don't need. This looks like subtraction by subtraction....is that even a thing....lol

Keith Law says Dominguez’s arm is great, more setup than closer, and said he has heard Hays has been an issue in the clubhouse due to lack of playing time. Said O’s easily win this trade but expects more activity from them.
It cracks me up the intuitive leaps on this thread already as if this was their big swing and that they won’t get better relief or starting pitching before the deadline. Some of you people are going to have a stroke if you don’t chill the F out over every minor thing. If Hays was being a negative influence in the clubhouse then getting him out is for the betterment of the club. Quite frankly getting anything of potential use, and I stress potential, for him is a bonus imo. Relax.
