Gonzalez hasn't been good against RHB.

Might give McGough a look... he's been dominant all year.

They've peaked at 24 games over .500 twice this year. Haven't been able to get to 25 games. Let's end that against Oakland.

Hyde doesn't want to ride Adley too hard, gonna need him down the stretch. He started the first two. Probably figured wouldn't need much offense with Burnes on the mound VS Seattle. I can't blame him for resting Adley.

 

Fair enough, but they were off this past Monday and he gave Adley the night off last Friday. So we're literally talking about playing three straight days.

Is it me or have opposing pitchers almost completely stopped throwing Cowser fastballs? I saw a graphic this past weekend which showed  of the 16 pitches he saw in Friday's game against Texas, 14 were of the non-fastball variety. Didn't appear to see any in that last at-bat, either.

Pretty sure the SP was throwing him heat in the first couple AB. 

 

He's gotta pickup on off-speed pitches, and once he does, their approach will balance out.

About done with Mateo. His offense is starting to fall off and he has too many defensive lapses for my taste.

Mateo has speed. If he's not going to use it on the base paths...Then what's left is a guy who is routinely out of position as a play matures. 

 

It is what it is. He's not the longterm answer at 2B, Holliday is. Hell, the reason we're seeing so much of him this year is cuz Jackson spit the bit out of the gate.

Not that it'd really matter, but odd to not pinch hit Mountcastle, Adley, and/or Hays in the 9th. All three are much better offensive players than Mateo and McCann. The comeback is unlikely anyways so not like you are worried about defensive alignment in the 9th.

If I'm a pitcher, I would never throw Cowser anything hard.  He's proven he can't hit off speed stuff and that's why he's crashed and burned at the plate over the past 2 months.  Especially, if you get 2 strikes on him.  Throwing him a 2-strike fastball would be pure idiocy.

I agree.

It looks like they give Adley a complete day off (No DH or catching) about once a week. It seems to working. Adley is having a All Star season and the Orioles are in first place.
