How has Kuemper been this year?
Haven’t checked in a while but wasn’t great early.
Thompson alone has been light years better.

Netted an empty netter for #869. Welcome back, Great One.
Eh, at some point last year he was wracking those up and I was like man, that's cheap. But honestly Wayne only has 4 less than he does...made me feel better about it.

Yeah once you see how many Gretsky had it's no big deal. Ovi added a regular goal yesterday so things are rolling again.

Lockout robbed him of many games as well, so take advantage of all the en goals you can get.

Didn't Gretz get hit by one of those in the 90s too? I can't remember exactly off the top of my head but I think he lost at least half a season. Somewhere around 94?
I remember it being a thing and people worried what legacy it would rob him of. Funny, cause without that larger lockout, Ovi probably already has him beat.

Ahh, good pull. Forgot about that one (94 the year of the best hockey game ever!) There was a lockout that year but they still played 48 games starting in January that year.

I have the digital version saved on my xbox right now, it came with a version a couple years ago. back when games were so much simpler and fun. Fifa was great back in the mid 90s too. I played Liv one day and did the ol' NHL double deek, score on the backhand shot like 4 seconds in the game and she was like oh hell no, put the controller down and walked away.

I played NHL series on Genesis more than any other game as a kid. Addicting as hell and the fun factor still holds up.
Same. Although that was the one year I think I had on both that and SNES, so if my brothers were playing on Genesis I could go play it on there.
I think I did all my sports games on Genesis actually. I know I had Tony LaRussa on there, all the NBA games and NHL games, and then I think FIFA came later.

Genesis was the superior sports gaming system. Which is why I played it much more than the SNES.

Ovi nets #874 in OT to give the Caps a nice win in Ottawa and draw within 20 goals of the record.
I knew the Caps have been having a good season so far, but I didn't realize they are tied with Winnipeg for most points in the league. And that despite Ovi being out more than a month. Think I'm going to have to start passing on MD basketball and watch more of their games.

This team looks real. Even when they have bad or uneven nights, they're still pulling out wins in the end.

I got a ton of questions this offseason around all the moves, because most of the players were unknowns, or underappreciated guys, but I said then, they were all really smart moves aimed and making us a more rounded team. Sometimes it's those guys, not the big name stars, that really make great teams. Look at Vegas, they've been a high level competitor since the expansion draft, and it's because they overstocked on those kind of steady, SOLID players, didn't go for the splashy stars. You can argue the highest profile player they had was a past his prime Fleury in goal.
Logan (speaking of Vegas) is an absolute stud. If they don't lock up him and Chychrun soon I'm gonna lose my mind. Chych said this week how much he loved it here in DC and he hopes they knock out a contract soon. So I think that's in the works already.

I’ll admit I was wrong about them just going through the motions until Ovi retires and then they’d rebuild. Last season they had all the look of an old team that was barely hanging on, but they weren’t as far off from being really good as I thought. I still think Dubois is vastly overpaid for what he’s contributing, but he has slotted in nicely on the 3rd line.

I was just checking his stats vs my optimistic prediction for him. He's on pace for around 12 goals and 55 assists, which is short of the 30 goals I said he'd get, but almost spot on the 60 assists I called. He's been a real solid piece. I know he got put back with McM and Wilson last night, so maybe that will bump him up again. Our 3rd line is being used as a checking line but with offensive players...pet peeve of mine. Frank is one of the fastest guys in the league and has been chipping in every night, but if he gets stuck on that 3rd line, it's going to limit how much he can help. I don't think we have the grindy two way players needed for a real contributing 3rd line.
Frank is in the mold of Bondra. Speed, nasty hard shot, and just has a way of finding the net, but that's only going to happen if he gets PT and on an offensive line. Maybe play him with Ovi and Strome? Would be a good offset to Ovi losing a step or two. Lappy has already kinda been ruined cause he isn't a fit for 3rd line duty and couldn't displace Dupois or Strome, let alone McMichael.
Either way, they gotta extend the two heroes. Thompson should be in the Vezina race, and Chychrun is at like 12 and 17 or something with the hardest shot in the NHL.
