Make smart decisions and you get rewarded. I'll assume that Hyde was full of shit when he said they were sticking with him and not that someone above had to overrule him.

The first pitch pop ups are back.

Mullins is ice cold.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

And yet Kjerstad can't get some ABs. Cowser to CF and get Heston in there

Kjerstad in LF would be a disaster. Mullins at 600 OPS is probably better than Cowser in CF and Kjerstad in LF. And I expect Mullins to end up in the 700-725 range.

Mullins is just awful at the plate and I have a hard time seeing him end up over .700. Just how long do they keep trotting him out there? His average has dropped below .200 and his OPS is like .625.

He'd need to be below 600 for me to think we have a better alternative. We'd go backwards a good bit defensively from Mullins to Cowser and go backwards a colossal amount from Cowser to Kjerstad or Santander in LF. Defense from Mullins + Cowser is worth probably 150 OPS points to me over our Cowser + Kjerstad. So if Kjerstad is gonna put up 800+ I'd believe the offensive upgrade balances the defensive downgrade.

Hays coming back and hitting like he always has is a more viable alternative than Kjerstad. He's better defensively than Cowser in LF right now. Not as athletic, but doesn't make the mental mistakes.

Mullins has been bad recently, no argument. But I think he's still close to a league average bat overall. He'll get hot eventually. Kjerstad's defense won't get hot.

Great case....to trade Kjerstad tomorrow. I think your analysis is probably fairly accurate which tells me that Kjerstad has no place on this team. I get Santander is a FA but if Kjerstad's defense is that weak then move him out. Add in Norby and get me Miller.

I’d play McKenna over Mullins at this point.

I think after this year and O'Hearn is a FA Kjerstad has a good chance to fill that role.

Good win tonight. Irvin continues to impress.

The Orioles seem to be really good at turning pitchers with potential into pitchers that deliver results. I'd be really interested to see what the adjustments have been for him.

I think Kjerstad can play RF. But at home you now need someone who is borderline capable of playing CF to play LF for you. Kjerstad isn't that. I would absolutely consider trading him, but have no issues with keeping him at Norfolk or on the bench most of the season and then having him win the RF job next season.

I would not trade both Kjerstad and Norby for Miller. One and a lesser guy, sure. If that's the price for Miller, I'll go get Devin Williams instead which shouldn't cost a top-100 guy.

O’Hearn is likely back with a cheap team option ($7.5 million) but I think he (Kjerstad) probably replaces Santander next season.

Yup. I dont know that I trust Kjerstad to hit anyway. Ced is clearly on a downward trend offensively. Why Ive said for awhile now I wouldnt extend him. Defense isnt gonna get better at 30 either. All that said, being a plus CF currently covers for a lot of offensive slippage.

I want to give Cano massive props for being a great fielder at the pitcher position. That play he made last night was massively difficult and he made it look pretty easy. He's always fielded his position well since he's been here.

Kimbrel looked good, he settled in after the first batter. Another appearance like that and he can have the closer spot back. I just don't think he's ready for back to back appearances yet and maybe won't be again.

Good game last night under crappy conditions.  It was cold and damp all game.  Irvin is in a good place right now.  I am convinced he needs to work regularly to be effective.  He is not going to light up any radar guns, but he knows how to pitch.  We sit downstairs behind home plate and watching Gunnar play shortstop is a pleasure.

Hyde did well with the pen last night.  Kimbrel looked relieved after his inning.  I think they are going to have to really manage his usage, which will become tougher when the games start stacking up in the summer.
