Having to go to Seattle is a bummer but being in Florida's bracket is the one you'd choose.

Grand Canyon is NET #92.

2nd round opponent slated to be Memphis who is only #49 in NET. They'd need to get past #47 NET Colorado St so could be an upset.

No way IMO. I think Florida is the best team in the country coming into this. Appreciate having the same pod as over seeded Memphis but going to Seattle and being with Florida stinks

Three, maybe even all 4, of the #1 seeds make the FF

UNC being in is a joke.

ACC is a shell of what it was. They should be embarrassed.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Looks like a strong set of #1 seeds, but it just never works out that way.

I'm trying to look for a real sleeper, but don't really see one...yet.

Super strong 1 seeds. Auburn has been a bit shaky of late but their losses are to strong SEC schools. Obviously its a lose and go home situation. Anthing can happen.

I do have a hedge bet in on Zaga beating Houston but expect Hou to win.

You know they're out there somewhere.

One of the hardest parts about this whole exercise is the fact that teams with a bunch of college kids can click at any point.

Do you find any value in looking at the prior 14/28 etc. days, versus the whole season? Are you looking for stronger defenses? Just curious, but obviously don't feel the need to divulge your process.

It really feels like the UNC AD, was shown a few favors, because at 1-12 Q1 wins there is no way Carolina should be in the tournament.  The ACC stunk this year and UNC at best was mediocre.  It feels like favoritism was shown to another Blue Blood.  Frankly the committee showed a lack of integrity.

Carolina was the highest in 11 of the metrics that they used, including the NET ranking, where they were many spots ahead of all of the "bubble" teams. Plus they were 8-2 their last 10, much better than West Virginia.

It's all good, I realize "haters gonna hate', in general, but if anyone actually took the time to look at the metrics the committee used, then there wouldn't be so much "outrage" out there.

Lastly, Cunningham was also the chairman two years ago, when Carolina was the second team out. But again, I realize how people feel about Carolina Basketball, I get it, it's all good. Gotta win tomorrow and hopefully this noise goes away.

The 8s seem better than the 5s, so there could be an upset in the 2nd round. The 1s do all seem a cut above though. But we probably always say that.

I usually pick against the teams that surprise in their conference tourney, like they had the momentum, but the few days off hurt them.
Usually works, NC State last year aside, of course.

I thought UNC earned it with the way they closed out the season. I think they were deserving. Knocking them for the AD being on the Selection Committee and being a blue blood is just low hanging fruit. But if you want to say they didn't deserve it, I want to hear who should've made it in instead? Like what are we talking about here really?

Just noise, they played really well the last 4-5 weeks, only losing twice to Duke.

I don't know what WAB (wins above bubble) actually means, but I'm glad the Heels had a good one!!

As far as the committee thing goes, they have protocol that they follow, and as i said in an earlier post, he was on the committee two years ago when Carolina was the second team out.

I really don't hate Carolina.  Duke is an entirely different subject.  That said 1-12 in Q1 wins should get them a ticket to the NIT>  If they were not North Carolina, they would not be in the tourney.  You are right about the 8-2 but their schedule was weak.  The ACC was bad this year, but somehow the Tar Heels got the benefit of the doubt.

Hardest schedule in the country helped, played 5 games against the #1 seeds, and while they lost them all, they had Florida beat, and played Duke close in two of the three games.

I again will mention that two years ago they were the second team out, and i have to assume if "they're Carolina" was the reason they got in this year, then it would've been the same in 2023. I don't buy it, whether I'm admittedly biased or not.

I get the 1-12 Q1 thing. Not great. ACC, not great. They did have a lot going for them though, nevertheless. They are 33rd in KenPom, 22nd in AdjO, 234th in luck, 41st ranked strength of schedule.

Of the teams in that 60-80 range in KenPom who didn't make the tournament, who deserved to be in over them? The only teams with better records were teams like: San Francisco, UC Irvine, North Texas & George Mason. None of them even remotely deserved to be in over UNC. All the other teams in that range who played legit schedules were objectively worse than North Carolina.

It's a 68 team field. There aren't 68 good teams. This is the reality of this tournament that we all love so much.

You talk abut teams rounding into form as the season progresses. Obviously, there are teams that get lucky for a few days at the conference tourny. Lets take Michigan. Clearly a team trending the wrong way pre B10 tourny. They are still a 5 seed whos barely favored over 12 seeded UCSD. No one is or should be fooled by their B10 run. But Id be a bit nervous about the way Auburn played the last few weeks. Id be encouraged by the way Florida played over the last month. Etc etc.
